rick reichmuth is in our weather center. rick: it has been a strong storm for a number of days, all of this energy pushing off to the northwest that will create the conditions you're talking about, big swells, and that will translate into big waves. it will start tonight, and we will see those waves move on in and probably tomorrow sees some 15 to 20-foot waves, maybe 25 feet on sunday and little further north. it does not matter that much if it does strengthen. that will take us back to a category 3, and then it will go over water fairly quickly, and that will cause the storm to begin. there is a beneficial storm that has been moving in from the west. all week long, we have been talking about this trough, and it is here, and it is not allowing this storm-to move further up, and it will eventually move to the northeast. some of this rain is very heavy, and this hurricane is going to give this. over the weekend, some areas of the northeast, maybe four inches of rain, not because of the hurricane but because of a stalled front.

our chief meteorologist rick reichmuth is live in the extreme weather center h.d. tonight. rick, man, what a storm. >> a good chance it could become a category five. nothing really to stop it. the water is very warm. the sheer is forecast to remain very light over the next two to three days. the good news, shepard, is that as we move forward in time with the track of this storm, it's going to remain over water during the strongest period of this. if you look forward about five days, the models are in very good agreement that it's probably going to go between bermuda and the eastern part of the u.s. very likely, though, canadian mayor times taking a very solid punch from this. anywhere from around the mid-atlantic towards the northeast, the seas this weekend, shepard, saturday and sunday, we'll be seeing waves 15-20 feet high. major beach erosion. have to stay out of the water this weekend. shepard: there is extreme weather in the nation's midsection now. first check out this cell phone video. a witness working at a drive-through window caught this tornado as it ripped throug

meteorologist rick reichmuth is at the financial weather center. what is -- is at the fox weather center. what is the latest, rick? >> the storm is gone but the rest of the afternoon we will see rough seas up and down the eastern seaboard. yesterday there was a fatality in florida from somebody who went into the water in one of the rip currents. stay out until tomorrow. tomorrow the weather will be much nicer up and down the eastern seaboard and a good day for the beaches. the storm pulling off towards the northeast. moving here right around nova scotia and still has winds at 85 miles an hour standed. it is moved at 33 miles per hour in the forward momentum. taking the energy and starting to see things clear out across the eastern seaboard. we still will have waves well above average and the riptides will be a big concern for the day today. this is a look of what we have seen of bill and what we are about to see. started in the atlantic and moved and avoided all land masses which is great news when you a category four storm, at least it was at one p

. >> are falling hurricane bill, and rick reichmuth is all over it. >> rick: it became a major hurricanetwo. the wind is at 105 mph. still moving around 22 miles the north in the northwest. we have about 400 miles to the east of cape hatteras area 500 miles south of nantucket. the official track has not changed five days for the storm. it's been consistent models of inconsistent and it will run right between bermuda and the eastern part of the u.s. probably make landfall around newfoundland or nova scotia. so the canadian maritimes need to watch it. we have tropical storm warnings for much of cape cod and the islands. we will probably see wind tight end mark in the 40 mph wind but the big story is this latter being pushed into the area causing very big swells and that also means very good ways. waves probably 15-20 feet in areas and at times up to 25 feet it's a beta stuff the beach and in fact a lot of beaches will be closed today. this is what's happening. we have is a hit in the trough moving across the eastern part of the country. that has stopped the storm are moving closer to land.

we'll check back. >> dave: to rick reichmuth now, a check on the hot weather across the country. >> rickrting to look a little bit interesting. finally has been such a calm, no hurricanes in the atlantic but we've hat some in the pacific and this is felicia, and it actually is going to impact hawaii, the official track of this does bring it towards hawaii and maybe monday night into tuesday morning. probably as a very diminished storm, 40 mile-an-hour sustained winds. probably not that high but a lot of rain and the mountainous area, probably see flooding across the spots and that is one thing to watch and atlantic, quiet except for one wave that is popping off the african coast there, as a very good chance of becoming our first named storm and would be anna, a long ways away from the u.s. if we see anything from that, we are talking a week or two weeks away but something we'll start to watch and today, across this u.s., we have rain across parts of the northeast and i should say more towards the mid-atlantic and part of the great lakes, and then the next system, that is developing over

we want to get to rick reichmuth tracking the weather developments in the caribbean. >> yeah, and a newt from pensacola, actually right here at the alabama, florida border down to the river, this entire area with warnings, you're going to see conditions get worse through the afternoon and during overnight hours we'll probably see the worst in the center of the storm pull on shore. this is a look at the radar image. you can see some very heavy rain showers and thunderstorms across the eastern side of this. that will continue to bull off. as we do see areas of the panhandle, maybe up to around ten inches of rain, that's going to cause some localized flooding. and this is the official track of it, and pretty organized. we could see a strength of maybe more than that. 50, 55 miles per hour, not going to cause any major damage, but the flooding is probably the biggest concern and the other two storms we're watching, one is ana, really looking rather ragged at this point. bill not the case though, bill very organized still. i want to show you the track of two storms. ana looks likes potential

's how much rain is falling. a good day to stay inside if you. can go over looking at the severe threat today. from connecticut down toward south carolina. this is a front to move through. this next system is brewing. that is a front across the northern plains, bringing severe weather from minnesota to sioux falls. and across the panhandle. looks like oklahoma. one more area we'll watch this afternoon, that is across oregon, where we could see damaging winds a

rick reichmuth with an update. >> we have had a pretty calm atlantic hurricane season.w have the sixth storm here. that right there is felicia. you said 150 mile an hour sustained winds. out here in the atlantic. at this point, no big concerns to land. five or six days, potentially hawaii may be in the path of this storm. probably not as a hurricane. maybe a 40-50 mile an hour wind maker. it could be a lot of rain across parts of hawaii. that's what we will watch closely the next few days. trace: those are brand-new stories at the bottom of the hour. martha: a group has emerged on the scene that terrorism -- people who watch terrorism very closely are concerned about. now we can tell you that five members of the al-shahad terror group were arrested in australia. they were busted by 400 police officers who were involved there. they formed a plot to bomb a sydney military base. this terror group is a group we all need to have a better understanding of. it's known as al-shahab which is the youth. it is suspected of having routes in several countries like lebanon and parts

meteorologist rick reichmuth is at the fox weather center with the forecast. how does it look, rick? s>> hot and stormy across the plains. this is a line where the cold front is. 72 in new york. enjoy it, because the warm air is headed that way as the heat moves on. the heat is a major factor. it's humid with this. this is feel-good temperature. 11:00 in the morning, 94 in chicago. and 98 in st. louis. extreme heat stretches across the area. we have two severe thunderstorm watches in effect. i believe this cell in iowa with a tornado warning on it as well. a big concern for storms this afternoon. the other thing we're watching is a tropics. this is hurricane felicia. beginning to die down in intensity, which is what we forecasted. it will continue to do so. but by monday and tuesday morning, around 35 miles per hour or 40-mile-per-hour storm affecting the hawaiian islands. mostly just bringing beneficial rain, actually. one thing quickly out across the atlantic. no storms yet for any kind of tropical activity this year in the atlantic. but we have one that is l
