rick reichmuth a big halloween fantasy outside today. how is it?o way. >> 00 day after sandwich. >> cran entery, thank you. take a look at the maps. nice weekend for some people. little bit cooler if you want some fall. the northern tier feels like fall if you are not quite ready for it. alisyn go down to the south. look at the forecast for the day today around the great lakes we'll see some scattered showers again. been a pesky disturbance bringing kind of gloomy conditions around the mid-atlantic and northeast. the city is looking better. it will be windy behind us. this afternoon expect to see some winds gusting around 30, 40 miles per hour. down to the south very, very nice except for south florida you will see a few showers. central plains looking great. lincoln, nebraska 74 and plenty of sunshine. out across the western states also we will see a lot of sunshine. far northern pacific northwest into the northern rockies a little bit of rain and snow as well. nothing that's going to pile up too badly. tomorrow looking for your temps for the day.

rick reichmuth with the latest. t the storm being almost down. far eastern, maine dealing with this and then into nova scotia. look at the last 48 hours. blockbuster storm for us. got going once we began the nor'easter and started to spin over the open hours. wind up the last few frames and that is where we see the extreme snowfall totals. parts of the central appalachians into the mid atlantic. farther towards the north is when the snowfall totals started getting higher. around 3 inches in new york city. over a foot, up to 1 19 inchesn well milford. the bullseye in new hampshire. 31.4 inches in jaffrey new hampshire and 30.8 in plainfield, massachusetts. and over 14 in worcester, massachusetts. all the people without power maybe a couple million still tonight and temperatures troping like this going to be a long night. people need to check in on neighbors and elderly during this time. >> shannon: new jersey among the states especially hit hard by the storm. more than 600,000 people without power there. the julie ban

check with rick reichmuth. by halloween. that's good. very nice across the country. one story going on and the storm across parts of the east, it's a nor'easter, a classic nor'easter and it's going to be very, very windy, because there's a lot of tropical moisture the snow that falls is going to be wet and dense and knock trees down and dealing with significant power outages and widespread tree damage and tree damage from the hurricane this year and irene and dealing with kind of a repeat for a lot of people. and the snow we're looking at is across the coast. for rain across the coastal areas throughout the afternoon, but new york and philadelphia, by about six o'clock tonight, and that starts the transition into snow. it snows during the the overnight hours and midnight we're seeing snow in new york city, a lot of snow in hartford, by boston, transitioning into snow at that point and tomorrow morning it's gone. in its wake a lot of areas that are around 10 to 12 inches of snow across the higher elevations and
