rick reichmuth has more? >> not everything he was hoping for, it is coming down a little too quickly. we'll see some flooding with it. ultimately any kind of moisture there is good. it will help fill up some of the reservoirs and helps with the winter crops and then kind of gets the soil at least ready for next year hopefully. in the short-term, a loft severe weather and these line of storms you see firing there, all of those have a lot of moisture associated with them. we'll see a little localized flooding. this is where the threat for severe weather is today. and already with that, we have three different tornado watch boxes in effect. a few tornado warnings that have been popping up from time to time. look at these four here, around the boot hill of missouri. around the jonesboro area of arkansas. that continues to pull up toward the east very slowly. we'll see some good rain out of it. imbedded in some of those thunderstorms, we might see three to four inches of rain accumulating. this is where you see th

chief meteorologist rick reichmuth is live with more. you are from this part of the country. that season it seems like an awful lot this year. >> you say a good monsoon season. you want to get the moisture in the rainy season. they have had a lot of it take a look at the images of this dust storm that moved across the phoenix area as well. the wind comes down out of sky, hits the ground, pushes all of that dirt out in front of it and that's before any of the moisture hits. this is also going on right at the same time. but very heavy rainfall. radar indications 2 inches to 3 inches. some places get around 6 or 7 for the entire year. 2 inches to 3 inches for the day. that gives you an idea how extreme this rain has been over the last couple of days, harris. >> harris: without severe weather in other parts today and tomorrow i think we are expecting. >> yeah we're. a big storm system that's going to cool temperatures down and feel like fall behind us for a lot of people. good news down across the south. all these areas here have severe thunderstorm watches in effect. today a bit

rick reichmuth is live. >> t storms. that was very nice. there are in three different tornado watches in effect right here right across this mid mississippi river valley, stretching across parts of illinois. we have had one tornado reported, different tornado warnings have continued through here, although it doesn't look like any of these are active right now. this is kind of that bull's eye from little rock, up to the north of decatur, through peoria and springfield, memphis. these are the areas that the threat for tornadoes is. no hail, no big winds necessarily. more of a tornado threat. here is where we have the drought. you can see all of the drought back raining right now, out in front of that mid atlantic, not look at much drought. a bull's eye over parts of georgia. here is where we're going to get more rain. across some of those areas, it's good news, unfortunately, where you see the darker colors into the reds, that's maybe four to five inches of rain. that means even across parts of far interior sections we'll be seeing that threa

all right, rick reichmuth is off this morning and maria molina in with a check of our weather across and good morning everyone. today in the 50's in new york city and great lakes and most are the northeast, a cool note and cloud cover across portions of the region and a large area of low pressure that's relatively dry and isolated shower and as we head westward, minneapolis 50 degrees on the cool side as well, otherwise out west, 66 in los angeles, 78 currently in phoenix, so, very warm across parts of the desert southwest, so looking at some of the summer heat in place out there. otherwise high temperatures will be heating up across parts of the northern plains and very warm, 81 in rapid city and some of the temperatures are up to 20 degrees above what's normal for this time of the year, texas, southern parts of the texas, 82 for the high temperature and san antonio upper 80's across parts of florida and tampa, the northeast, widespread 60's as far west as portions of chicago and in the city of chicago, we are expecting a lot of heavy rain across parts of the lower mississippi valle
