chief meteorologist rick reichmuth is live with more. rick, are we sans graphics?ell me what is happening. >> a big storm today across parts of texas. rain, more than snow. you can see snow on the back end. we saw ten inches in lubbock. >> are you kidding me? that's a lot. >> a lot for lubbock. the top five ever. but that storm went through. this is going to be winds that are like 50 to 70 miles an hour, especially across west texas, eastern new mexico. this storm moves across tomorrow. we had record-breaking snow across parts of north carolina sunday and monday. now we're going to have rain move over that. so the next few days, we'll have the chance for a flooding situation going on in the carolinas. keep in mind people that are recovering from hurricane -- >> i wanted to ask you about that. with fewer trees and already infrastructure is under stress. >> infrastructure is under stress and we have had record-breaking rainfall in north carolina for the year. after this weekend, we'll probably have spots over 100 inches of rain for the year total, which blows away --

fox news' chief meteorologist rick reichmuth is live in the weather center, hopefully, with some betterdo have better news, it is going to get better this weekend. today's kind of the last of what has been about a three-day, really big storm. behind the storm, cold has settled in across the central part of the country. not horribly, horribly cold. a big warmup over the last 24 hours, 19 degrees warmer in new york city, 26 degrees cooler than you were in kansas city 24 hours ago. still some delays across the airports right around philadelphia and in towards new york. heaviest of the rain has been down on the southern side of this where we saw over 11 inches overnight in parts of louisiana, and much of the south has seen the wettest december you've ever had, and a lot of the south and the east has seen the wettest year ever. atlanta, after today, the second wettest year you've ever had, and that is likely going to get broken by the time we get through the end of this weekend. rain showily moving off towards -- slowly moving off towards the east. 10, 11:00 tonight, all of this will be gone

let's go to rick reichmuth with more. what are we looking at?> a big storm impacting us since yesterday and we have 18 hours to go. saturday and sunday, more people travelling with the weather and the weather will be better across the country. this, we had the tornadoes across parts of florida. a really broad storm system down from the caribbean, up to canada. primarily rain. on the back side of it and in the higher elevations, we'll see snow. here's how the future radar plays out. rain across boston for much of the evening. this is out of here by tomorrow morning. most of it is gone. temperatures drop and the winds are still in place. because the wind we'll still see a few delays across the airports and the northeast tomorrow. overall, most of the country looking good. clear across the central part of the country and the activity goes across much of the pacific northwest. take a look at sunday overall. again, not that bad. more moisture across the pacific northwest. as far as precipitation, if you have snow where you are, you have a good chance

to rick reichmuth in the fox news weather center, hey, rick. >> yeah, the southern tier where most ofhe north is pretty tranquil, but cold. right here is kind of that line we've got rain and snow going on, the difference between it, we've got winter weather advisories throughout texas, arkansas, and the bullseye for the storm is going to be here once it moves in across the southern appalachians and into north carolina, south carolina and towards virginia. it's a big mess of a storm that brought the bad weather to california and now moving towards the south and you see this very heavy rain. we've seen over eight inches of snow in lubbock, texas, one of your snowiest days on record and the north side of here you've got the coldest air so it's becoming snow. starting off as rain here across the north georgia mountains and appalachians. we check the future radar and all day long, overnight tonight is when the snow begins to fall heavily across parts of especially north carolina, but you notice that 33 degrees in charlotte tomorrow. you're going right on the line between rain-snow. we coul
