let's turn to chief meteorologist rick reichmuth. are. : that's probably a good call with disney, to be honest. it's going to be really windy. right here is kind of the center of the storm, but you see a lot of energy to the knot of it. sill to the south of it. we're going to have a lot of moisture for the next 3-4 days, so we'll keep rain in the forecast for quite a while. as you just mentioned, tropical storm warning in effect for los angeles, that has never happened before. and this is one of the wind gust forecasts. take a look at this. you've got some winds that are probably 60-80 miles an hour across the mountains to the east of san diego area. this is to start the day today. i by this afternoon, really windy conditions spreading out across much of interior sections of california. coastal areas probably in that 20-30 mile-an-hour range. mayben san diego a little bit more than that. by term most of the win is gone, but we'll see some of the moisture stick around, and some of the rainfall totals are going to be ec treatment -- extreme.

let's go to rick reichmuth, meteorologist. oing to be a herculean task to make things right. they're still battling with weather. >> they still haven't had moisture. the drought that has been there, one of the ingredients that sparked these fires, no real relief for that. the winds are lower than they have been on the north side of the idea, maybe more. the west side, west side are not that bad. this is rain through friday. wind on the winward sides. you get that almost every day. it's the leeward side that don't get that and unfortunately no relief coming except maybe -- this is what is happening in the pacific. this is a tropical storm out there. not expecting any negative impacts from this storm but it could bring 5, 6 weeks from now some increased moisture in the area. that would be helpful. want to take you through the rest of the tropics. there's a lot going on including in the pacific, this is tropical storm hillary. the track of this one is interesting. we'll see this storm strengthen rapidly and go right up here. looks

let's turn to chief meteorologist rick reichmuth for our fox weather forecast.ne piece of good news, weather pattern that is changed, certainly are winds is have calmed very much down. all of this kind of primarily due to two pieces. we had an area of high pressure to the north of hawaii and then hurricane dora, now-typhoon dora, off towards the east. you can even still see the winds very strong in between those two, it's just now both of those systems have moved off towards the west, so the winds in hawaii dying down. interestingly, that's the international dateline. when it get to the east of it, it's called a typhoon. same storm, just a different naming convention. this fire now at this point 80 fatalities x that is the second deadliest fire we've had anywhere in the u.s. five years ago, 2018, in paradise, california, we've talked a lot about that storm -- that fire. burned most of the town and caused 88 payalties, but that's -- fatalities, and that's where we are right now. we'll see the that number changes. fires in two different areas in maui. green on the

joey: we're going to go to chief meteorologist rick reichmuth with the forecast. ifornia, the town of paradise, wiped out, and that fire was the deadliest ever in the the u.s., and it was 88 fatalities. potentially in this goes down certainly as one of the deadliest fires we've ever a had in the country. winds were in the mid 80s when this fire was going on, and that very strong wind is what fueled all of these flames. just want to show you the island right now. the north and kind of east side of the island is the windward side, and that's where you might have heard of the road to hama, this incredibly green area, but then you get to the west and south side, it's the leeward side of the islands, and this right here, you see the two areas of burn scars, you can see the one here that's up country and the one in downtown lahaina. now we've got the winds much calmer, the weather pattern that we were dealing with has completely changed, and the winds are going to be much more calm for the next number of days. this is where those fires were. most of the fires here in upc

rick reichmuth follows this and quite well. >> we have a long ways to go in hurricane season., 70% of our hurricane activity is still yet to come this year. just to be prepared for that. take a look at this. we have a lot of rain showers where the storm came on landfall in the big bend. rain today, tomorrow and sunday. some of the rain could be heavy. here's the big bend. you can see the pockets of 2-3 inches that will cause problems for people out there. this is where idalia is right now. you can see this consistent wind here coming out of the northeast. probably doing some damage here to beach as cross the outer banks. so a rough condition here right now. we want to show you the track of the storm from now. i'm only doing this and say hey, it's going to sea, so we don't need to worry. take a look. this is tuesday morning. it's still there off of the coast of the eastern seaboard. we start to lose steering currents. you can see what it's doing there. i'm not saying we're seeing another landfall. we're going to see this storm remain out here. because of that, we'll continue to

we've moved outside, but before we tell you why, let's check in with fox news chief meteorologist rick reichmuth lye from georgia. hey, rick, what have you got now? rick: i've got will hickings from the georgia sea turtle center. this is a nest right here, we've talked about the sea turtles you guys are rehabbing, let's talk about the work you do with a specific nest. >> sure. we did inventory of this nest. it hatched out9 five days ago, so we're checking how many unhatched versus hatched egg hells. this had an 88% half success, and our guidelines state anything over 60% is good. so this nest did really, really well, produced a lot of hatchlings to help contribute to the population. rick: we're right in front of the ocean here. about five days ago these things hatched and went out ott toation, and now they're trying to survive out will there. >> are absolutely. rick: you also take dna samples. you've been doing this for a long time. >> yes. we've been taking dna since 2007 and get the dna of the female sea turtle so see how many times he's been nesting. rick: that's amazing. their having a lot o

pete: let's turn now to chief meteorologist rick like newt for our -- rick reichmuth for our fox weatherd morning. there's been so much going on this year. big storms across parts of oklahoma, you see this little bit of circulation across areas of nebraska, south dakota, iowa and minnesota, that's going to be the catalyst for severe weather later today, especially as the day heats up, and we'll' all of this energy move across the tennessee valley bringing severe weather today and tomorrow. the red, 2 big biggest bull's eye. definitely strong the wind and hail, but we couldn't rule out a tornado. this includes louisville and nashville. tomorrow right across the ap appalachian chain, that's where the biggest storms are going to be, even the mid-atlantic the, get ready for a toe or two and definitely strong, damaging winds. heat across the south, excessive heat warnings in effect anywhere you see that pink. goes from florida all the way towards california, places you think, yeah, it's supposed to be warm in the summer but not this warm. these temperatures are breaking all kinds of records.

chief meteorologist rick reichmuth is tracking this storm in the fox weather center. evening, rick. >> rick: good evening, bret. yeah, hurricane season, solidly into hurricane season. we are talking about the pacific coast, not the atlantic. good news in the atlantic, but the pacific we have got it. hillary now almost a major hurricane. and we are expecting it to be a major hurricane off baha, california coast. it will weaken before it makes landfall or gets over the southwest somehow. but we do know that it is going to continue to strengthen. it is strengthening rapidly now. also going to bring a lot of moisture into the area and the flood threat begins as of saturday. take a look at this. it was just about maybe 30 hours ago that this storm became a tropical storm. and it's now a category 2 hurricane. on the visible satellite imagery here, you can see the center of this storm really clearly there, getting very organized very quickly. water is very warm and all of the conditions are ripe for continued strengthening. that said, you see the track of this coming up some

let's turn to chief meteorologist, the chief, rick reichmuth, for our fox weather forecast. ver l.a. has been under a tropical storm warning. two tropical storms is have made landfall from what we know in history, this probably won't either. storm's starting to get a little raggedy. it's a significant tropical run storm, tropical rain, a warmer air mass holds a lot more moisture, and we'll see that rainfall falling at a much higher rate when this storm comes onshore. we're already starting to see it. this is the center of a storm that's going to track somewhere across southern california and eventually up through nevada, but we'll see widespread impacts from really significant rain, some spots that will get aer year's worth or maybe two years' worth just in a a couple of days. this is the sand yea i go area, this is just one model's depiction. a lot of areas around 1-2 inches of rain. generally, when you get rain across much of the west, you get thunderstorms that cause isolated rain. this is a lot of people getting a lot of rain, and that's why the flooding threat is so much

let's turn to chief meteorologist rick reichmuth for the forecast. >> it is a lot.xacerbated the problem, maryville is the town, in the southwestern area of louisiana. you see the drought that's going on here. we talked about texas this summer because it's been so hot but louisiana's been dealing with the exact same pattern. in fact, we have broken high temperature records across louisiana. what would normally be a rainy season has not happened. we have the highest categories of drought across parts of texas and louisiana. that's why we've got all of this fire threat. we have heat advisories in effect again for another day. we are about to see a bit of a break. yesterday, dallas got to 109, today to 98. we'll see high temperature drop a little bit tomorrow. it's still really hot but it's improved. generally this time of year you can start to see tropical systems or tropical moisture. we had a tropical storm make landfall, harold earlier this week across far texas, that brought relief. we're watching tropical depression 10. it's going to pull off towards the north. i

rachel: let's go to chief meteorologist rick reichmuth with the fox weather forecast. ity, without cell towers, it's hard to get that information for so many people, so i'm sure a lot of those people are certainly going to be okay. take a look at this, this is hurricane dora, one component of what caused all those winds. it's kind of interesting, it's about to cross the international date line, it will become typhoon dora once it does that. this fire now, second deadliest that we've ever seen in the country. 88 was the highest from the camp fire in paradise. and back to dora, or when it was closer to hawaii, it was in conjunction with an area of high pressure to the north, and that's what caused all those problems, but it was of a category four hurricane for a very long time which is very unheard of for it to happen. it will continue to move off to the east. sorry, i just had to run up those stairs -- will: you out of breath? rick: i'm out of breath.
