rick tyler is with the cruz campaign. rick joins me live now.> good morning, carol. >> thanks for being here. we have to talk about donald trump first. he's at 27% in this latest poll. he's been hovering at that level in many polls over the past many months. he can't seem to break that 30% mark. why do you think that is? >> well, he's reached some sort of limit. i don't want to predict on what donald trump is going to expand or not, but the fact is he hasn't been able to expand. we've been steadily growing and i'm very encouraged by the poll numbers. they're just a poll, a national poll, but it represents a trend. we've been steadily building a campaign, as you mentioned. we're more organized in the early states than all of our competitors. and that's what's going to count because on election night, in each of the caucus states and early primary states, you've got to actually get people to go to the polls. we're organized to do that, and we're excited about it. >> just one more question about donald trump. his claims that thousands and thousands

. >> rick tyler with the cruz campaign out there in las vegas. thanks for the time. >> looking forward to it. thanks. >> jose, back to you. >> thank you very much. terrorism and national security are certainly a big concern in many polls. a new "washington post"/abc news poll shows the economy is still the single most important issue for voters. >> good morning, jose. for many voters it is still all about the economy. and one thing seems southern, we can expect the candidates to trash president obama's record thong. we'll thought we'd take so let's start with the glass half full. let's talk about jobs. unemployment rate. the headline number has been slashed in half since its recession peak of 10%. it's now at 5%. that's a level most economists call full employment. in the recession, the americans lost 8.million jobs, we've now gained 13 million jobs. another bright spot, more than six years into the recovery and the federal reserve is about to raise rates tomorrow or so we expect. they're going to do this for the first time in nearly a decade. jo

rick. >> hi, tyler.course, everybody is preoccupied and deservedly so with the junk space, so let's take a look. let's look at all these charts starting in early 2009. hyg, lowest level since july of '09. jnk, it's another junk etf, trades as a stock, and if you look at that, lowest level since may of '09. contrast that, of course, with what's going on on the actual securities side. these are spreads, thank you to barclays, that's a five-year chart of their high yield, and you can clearly see that it's been spiking up a bit. now, to that end i have porter bogus, pretty much a staple on the floor for many years. so, porter, you're dealing with some of these markets because the group you're with has some positions. can you give me some insight, if you had one word to describe what to pay most attention to in junk right now what would it snb. >> yield and maturity, the individual securities, and -- well, two words, credit quality, and so the problems we see in this space as we talked about is some of the li

rick? >> yeah, tyler, you know, we have that great interview with chevron and sully. so we were all glued to. that the three year note auction gave it a b plus. really was a solid auction. and if we think $24 billion yield at the auction, 1.255 to 125 and a half. so you look at the lost auction, 1.271. those two yields today and the last option are the highest yields going all the way back to april of 2011. so we want to be very cognizant of that. if you look at intraday of three, you can see we had volatility right around 1:00 eastern. not a lot. all maturities up and down the curve are within a basis point of unchanged. the two day chart may say it the best. yes, rates are moving a bit. but all rates are a bit under yesterday's high yields. a lot of that is attributed to the weakness we see in stocks. one other highlight on that auction i want to point out, we had the best direct bidding since september of 2014. back to you. >> rick, thank you very much. let's take a look at what is driving trading at this hour. as bob pisani mentioned, breadth is quite negative. no
