rick hasen joins us now.g democracy project at the ucla school of law. rick, great to see you. this is a question that's on a lot of americans' minds. i mean, could he somehow assume the oval office even after being convicted? i was talking to former governor asa hutchinson about this in a similar fashion a few moments ago. what happens if trump is convicted and sentenced to jail and this happens right around the republican nomination, but i suppose it could happen before inauguration, and we ask that question too. what if? can he go into the oval office? >> well, the first thing to say is that the constitution has very few requirements to be president. you have to be 35, natural born citizen. you have to be a resident of the united states for a certain period of time. that's it. so, you know, trump lives in florida. if he were a convicted felon, he wouldn't be able to vote for himself but nothing in the constitution says he can't serve. >> rick, the other question that has come up, and, you know, i've talked

>> i completely agree with rick. that's not a defense. first of all, there is, of course, reams of evidence that show that everyone critical around him was saying there was no fraud, and the former president himself said things to that effect. but here exactly it's not. it's not a true defense. the question is not so much did he believe the election was truly stolen, but what act, further to your point, did he take, did he and his coconspirators take, regardless of his subjective state of mind? did he believe that these electors that submitted the certificates to congress, were they the true electors, or did they go to a basement somewhere and say they were in the state house. there are so many questions like that. >> an important point. not did he think it was stolen from him, but did the electors scheme, did they believe the electors were what they said they were, the rightful electors. and that, i think, is a tougher case to make. rick hasen, danya perry, thanks so much for your ticoming u ountry hree trials an county around a presiden

rick, what gave you the idea?ell, i was out on a ride last year and about 60 people in that group. one fellow had a crash and we got him stabilized. he was greeted by ems eventually. and then he was actually allowed to go home later that day, following days, weeks. i got to thinking about what what actually happened in that in that circumstance, we had an active scene that was pretty chaotic. we had cars coming by on a little two lane winding road. so we had a number of things that were just overlooked. you know, we get the blinders on. so we wanted to focus in on what are some things that we can do to get people to create a safe scene. what can they do to prevent further injury at that scene as well as make sure that that individual that got injured, maybe there's multiple riders that they don't sustain further injuries or worse injuries or as dr. law said, even death. rick you ride that. is this your bike right there? yes. okay. so and doctor, you ride as well. i do. this is mine. all right. what kind of bike? b

good evening, rick. >> rick: good evening, bret.h, hurricane season, solidly into hurricane season. we are talking about the pacific coast, not the atlantic. good news in the atlantic, but the pacific we have got it. hillary now almost a major hurricane. and we are expecting it to be a major hurricane off baha, california coast. it will weaken before it makes landfall or gets over the southwest somehow. but we do know that it is going to continue to strengthen. it is strengthening rapidly now. also going to bring a lot of moisture into the area and the flood threat begins as of saturday. take a look at this. it was just about maybe 30 hours ago that this storm became a tropical storm. and it's now a category 2 hurricane. on the visible satellite imagery here, you can see the center of this storm really clearly there, getting very organized very quickly. water is very warm and all of the conditions are ripe for continued strengthening. that said, you see the track of this coming up somewhere around southern california. as it does so,
