and then pacific heights took over and rincon hill fell into decline. then came the bay bridge and rincon hill really for decades was something of a back water. well, look at it now. we're surrounded by high-rise development, the presidential towers, built, getting built, and more of them planned. so, once again, rincon hill is one of the most sought after popular places to live in san francisco. but where are the parks? where are the public open spaces? where are the places where all of these thousands of residents can gather and reflect on the meaning of life and make connections and form community? there's no public open space within nearly half a mile of where we stand today. that is about to change. so, it's now my honor to welcome to the podium alleyster mctag bert, the president of the emerald fund. the emerald fund is the owner of the department building at 333 harrison street. they're also the owners of this park we're standing in right now. the emerald fund is one of the bay area's premiere real estate developers. their focus is on developing

that includes the approval for rincon annex, rincon point, south beach, and other projects up to broadway. and i think in order for the background of issues surrounding this project, the project needs to reference or make available those documents which substantially set the tone of this development. and i think it will be very interesting, particularly some of us remember the approval surrounding the historic rehabilitation of the rincon post office which is indeed a post office property, where the creation and the height of the residential towers were once [speaker not understood] to deal with height and bulk and [speaker not understood] to waterfront, but the height also justified the historic preservation of the building into murals of the former post office. i think those things need to be taken into consideration and ultimately properly weighing what this project does contribute, what it asks for, and how you mitigate potential impacts. the other point is the d-e-i-r references a transit center. i do not believe the transit center ever implied there would be additional height and in
