on that footage you can see the incident take place, officer riordan -- officer nicholas riordan arrive in his patrol car, get out of the car and within a few seconds fire those four shots ultimately killing mckaia bryant. but yes you're right the columbus police department has been releasing videos the last few days. recently thursday. that was simply a police dash cam footage from a cruiser arriving a few moments after the incident took place. it doesn't shed new light on what took place tuesday afternoon. really the most important set of videos that have been put out by the columbus police department are the ones they put out tuesday night about five and a half hours after the initial incident, both normal speed video and slow motion video where you can see what took place. in contrast to what we hear from brian todd in north carolina there has been a completely different approach to a situation like this by the columbus pd. we are hearing from the police department and from the chief, and the mayor of columbus it's important to put out as much information to the public as quickly as

the incident on tuesday evening showing the body camera footage of the officer, officer nicholas riordan who shot bryant. you can see in that slow motion version of the video, the only one you can tell what is going on, it's important to watch. it shows bryant quickly moved to one girl. that girl with a knife in her hand, what appears to be a knife. that girl falls to the ground. you hear the officer say, hey, hey, hey, get down. then you see bryant lunge toward another girl, the one in pink who is wedged as can you stee against a car. you can see bryant's right arm raised with a knife in her hand. the officer says get down. get down several times. and then fires those four shots. later in the video, can you see a knife next to bryant who is there on the ground. so everyone involved agrees this is a tragic storey. the mayor, the unt rim police chief, the head of the director of public safety. they're saying it appears this was a reasonable use of force. we're hearing from some of brunt's family members, two cousins put out a statement. here is part of what they said if in that statement.

police officer arrived on the scene, nicholas riordan, got out of his car and he saw the 16-year-oldl that was killed in this incident, ma'khia bryant, apparently in the police's description of this video that's being released, trying to stab a couple of people. he immediately pulled out his service weapon and shot her four times, killing her, as you mentioned, the police released the surveillance -- the body cam video very quickly that night, and then in successive days in order to get ahead of this story, trying to show what the officer saw when he arrived on the scene. now, you ask what we're hearing here on the ground, though. people are upset, obviously. this is a 16-year-old girl that was killed in this incident. they're questioning whether there were other tactics that could have been taken, any other actions the officer could have done so that everybody could have survived this incident and that ma'khia bryant would still be with us today. i was asking one of the organizers what she sees as success as they move forward with this. >> i feel like success for us out here is to n

part of the city, and when the first officer arrived, he's been identified by police as nicholas riordan kind of break out in front of him and police have shared multiple videos, body cam and police cruiser videos showing this incident because they wanted the public to see for themselves. the police described the video, saying that the officer's bdy cam shows that ma'khia bryant appeared to try to strike someone with a knife and then also went after another young woman with a knife and that's when officer pulled out his service weapon and fired four shots, ultimately killing her. people are upset in columbus because this has happened multiple times over the years. in fact, 20 years ago, the clinton administration sued the city for civil rights violations so the relationship between police and the community here has been under the microscope for that time. there's been more recent incidents that led to the police chief resigning back in january. i asked one of the organizers of one of today's marches what she hoped the world would hear from these protests. >> i hope that we can get that e
