riskin. mr. rose? >> as mr. riskin has referenced on page 109 of our report, we are withdrawing the last recommendation of $21,595. i've withdrawn that. and on the recommendation above that services of other departments, we leave that. we recommend that you cut that by 200,000 dollars but as mr. riskin clarified we want to say that the general fund moneys for "the apprentice"ship program will be replaced by $200,000 solid waste moneys resulting in the savings of $200,000. so with those revisions on page five of our report where we state that our recommended reductions and they're detailed on page 104 through 111, they now total $813,825 and that's where the withdraw of the $21,595 that i just referenced. and including -- we were not aware that there was a problem with the two -- two of the incouple ranses. we will look at that next week. our recommendation was that you do close out a total of 160,046 dollars. the recommendation would result in a total redestruction of 973,471 of which $546,5943 would be save tog

that gives ed riskin, the dpw, a head start. this is happening as well, the operators union, 2,000, 2,200, got a new contract imposed on them. contentious contract battle. this contract, what voters wanted, gave management a lot more power over work rules, over discipline, over scheduling. you go, how come management didn't have those powers before? it's been about four decades really the operators have had a lot of say of how the agency -- >> is this an agency that is doing well and the next director is going to just build on the progress that's been made by the existing executive director or what? where's it at? >> it's an agency that's really struggling, i think. the transit agency in san francisco, like the transit agency not only across california but across the country have been slammed by a bad economy. the state of california has taken a lot of money away from transit. in san francisco, other city departments have been tapping into muni's money as well. which they've been able to with some fancy bookkeeping there. so in

this started with the dpw project and we are a client now representing the dpw is ed riskin. >> thank you. as the general manager and commission president referred to, dpw has been with this project for over a decade it has really become a labor of love for the department. it is an extraordinarily complex building project, unlike our typical library or fire station that we work on. and it is not because of the exceedingly high environmental performance, but exceedingly high seismic performance, business continuity performance. this will be one of the most advanced office buildings in the country. it is really a great partnership that we have working with the puc to make this happen, but also with our private sector partners, kmd stevens, webcor and their construction team. it has been a collaborative effort. we are proud of the fact that we are not only getting this great building built that will serve the city for generations to come, but in doing it, we are putting a lot of local businesses and residents to work in the process. it is really a win win. i want to commend the general m

ed riskin knows well what we're talking about. the third issue is parks. i want to qualify my statement about parks to say that we were given a beautiful park on naples between geneva and rock avenue. the first permanent pavement to park project in san francisco. it was a gift, not only from the city, but also from dpw. let me detail what we are talking about in our district, programs in the vessels there -- excelsior. many more park sapping and patrol in our major parks such as crocker-amazon, burke's part, allis chalmers. with those parks, we deal with a lot of seniors. in crocker-amazon, we're given a great gift with the bocce ball courts started over a month ago. trash dumping -- i will be real quick. trash dumping in our neighborhood supported by the efforts of supervisor cohen and at avalos. there are certain hot spots that we cannot do with any longer. we need public service announcements about big trash days, at least two times a year. i last issue, public safety. engleside and terrible station represents the biggest area of san francisco. -- terra
