riskin. >> thank you. chair person, weiner, and vice chair kim and i just want to echo, what john said in terms of just, appreciating the focus that you are putting on muni and the transportation system and recognizing i guess, specifically through what the form of this hearing, the linkage between the transportation system muni specifically and the economy of san francisco and the impacts that can have, adverse impacts when it is not working but also, we should remember that muni is a lot of what makes san francisco economy work. and contributions that muni makes to enable the economy of san francisco to function every day as you say are hard to match across the country. we have 90 percent of our residents within two blocks of a muni stop and so it is phenomenal coverage and we are the 7th largest transit system in the country in terms of ridership and so a lot of san francisco's economy is really under pinned by the service that muni provides. i too rely on muni and sometimes the frustrated muni rider, i

>> well the best thing i can say to you last july ed riskin hired me for the position and the way mta manages special events is changed and i use a model when i manage and plan for special events like this so it's different than two years ago. i think what you can look for is events to be managed the same as they were this past summer. i think that the mta was horribly successful in what we did in last summer's events and all of the events since then moving forward so i am very confident in the direction we're headed in terms of special event planning. >> any other questions? >> i think personally you do a great job and i understand if you don't want to do -- this is very specific how we will deploy because being in the event business things do change and not publicizing your deployment is better for the event and the police in general. >> and frankly commissioner joseph last year's october events we didn't publish the strategy for those events. it's a public safety safety issue for us. that's the reason we don't do it and we can see how successful how last october was. >> thank you.

riskin? >> so i think that the conversation to begs the question that what do we take from this, i think that going from the next slide and i think that one of your main points is that reducing the transit delays will create the economic benefit for the city and over the converse of the last slide and what i would add is tra transit performance more generally can create additional benefit and eliminating the delays would have benefits that improving the performance beyond and it would have additional benefits and in other city transportation and structure and the benefits that exceed their cost. and that may be more or less true for the different types of investments and this kind of analysis can help us determine what return on the investment might be from the different kinds of investments, i guess that along those lines i wanted to look at this from a different perspective. right now, the city as a whole, let's say, conservatively is paying, $50 million for these delays, what i thought mig
