what is your relationship like now with delaware republican party and the rnc and what are your plans politically? >> they are great questions. well, first of all, i do want to clarify that, you know, my trouble is with the former republican leadership. there has been a growing discontent in delaware with the political establishment that has on both sides of the aisle that has pretty much shut out the people, the voters, so candidacy didn't create the discontent, but we tapped into it and because of the dirty underhanded tricks that the former delaware republican leadership did, those leaders were ousted, and the new chairman of the republican party understands that we need to unit, and he's been doing -- john sigler, former president of the nra, he's deny -- been doing a great job of gets that unity and take back the state health and be a strong unified force, and to help the former republican leadership take pride in the principles in which we stand, but, you know, the -- the ousted leadership is still unhappy, and they're still resorting to underhanded tricks because i talk about h

michael steele is of course former chairman of the rnc and anita dunn, and the correspondent at the "gton post." anti-washington fever, everybody's reading the polls. let me throw up a couple more. here's obama's approval on the economy, congress's, 12%, gallup has a new poll out ranked 25 out of 25 sectors ranked. this is the toxic atmosphere that i get the sense that folks here in washington, they read the polls, but i don't think they believe how bad it is out there, do they? >> i think it has been banned for quite a while. it's obviously very bad at this moment. but it's been bad for a long time. and i think people kind of look at it tier and say, okay, yeah, it's bad and then kind of forget about it. i think you're right that out in the country, there's a much different sense about what washington is or isn't doing and a much deeper anger and frustration than the politicians are prepared to accept. >> anita, the challenge for the president is going to be how to channel that anger. and yet, it feels as if washington's in worse shape than it was when he entered. >> well, washington

michael steele, former chairman of the rnc and both are msnbc political analysts.ernor, start with you. a quote from lee siegal who wrote something for the "daily beast" and "newsweek." elected officials are acting responsibly by acting hysterically. is there truth in that statement? >> well, there is. look, if you're an elected official you want to err on the side of caution. want to get as many people out as you can, because you don't want to take the chance that the way these storms veered, that it veers at the last second or intensifies at the last second and peel get bound and you don't want to be responsible for any single death. better people are inconvenienced for a day moving out of an area than not. so i think governor christie, mayor bloomberg, mayor nutter, they all acted responsibly. >> if were you to grade them collectively, governor what would you be saying? >> b plus, a minus. good job. what's at fault here is the media, michael. let me explain why. there was an article by will bunch ever the "daily news" who you know is a great reporter. he quoted

joining me now, is msnbc, political analyst, richard wolffe and former rnc chair michael steele. richard, will voters really trust republicans to get the economy moving, that the republicans in my judgment, was the ones that got the economy where it is today? >> well, a statement of the obvious for starters. this is obviously the president's weak spot. it effects real people with a real political impact. if you look at the polls. see the numbers out of the poll this beek, there is a big gap between how much people trust the president and how much people trust and blame the president for the political problems we have. when you ask who do you trust for the economy. 43% say the president. 33% say republicans an congress. when you say who do you blame for deficit and debt problems, they don't blame this administration, they blame the last one. 41% versus 14% blame the obama administration. the american public is to blame the republicans and bush administration more than this president, even though they are unhappy with him. >> michael steele, does that mean that republican party is,
