the chairman of the rnc is doing a great job. he is trying to grapple with the very real problem, which is, we will have 15 or 20 candidates. how do you have meaningful dialogue or debate involving 15 or 20 candidates? it is not going to be workable. there are difficulties with the solution. the solution that the networks are coming to is that we're going to cut it off on a basis of polling. the top 10 candidates will be included. that makes a certain intuitive sense. but think about where we could be on this. i urge my friends on the rnc to think about this. just in terms of resume, the most qualified executives running for president right now are rick perry, four term governor of texas, george cotati, former governor of new york. they could be excluded from the debate. are we going to have a set of roles that exclude the two people who have the most executive experience? the primary in ohio we could , conceivably see john kasich, the former chairman of the house budget committee, and great governor of ohio, and excluded from th

the rnc is in arizona for the spring meeting.an in the field was on the trail with jeb bush when he made his comments trying to figure out how to answer the questions about the iraq war. tell us what the atmospherics were like. >> this was supposed to be a standard campaign-style event, a local brewery in tempe, arizona a platform for jeff to talk about innovation. but the iraq question was literally hanging over him today. he came out of the tour spoke to about 100 chamber of commerce type folks. there was a tv with the view on. they were talking about jeb's answer in iraq. he goes through a 10 minute speech and says, before i go, i want to add one more thing. he gives his explanation. it was a little abrupt, a little awkward. the crowd was kind of giving each other glances while he walked through his explanation. mark: we have been talking to the jeb bush folks trying to figure out why he has been giving these answers this week. what do you know about today's answer? >> he got worn down on this. as you have been talking about a

i talked with a former media strategist for the rnc who wants today's feminist movement to representsents democrats. her name is mindy finn. she launched the nonprofit empowered women to do just that. >> just because some people are not necessarily aligning with the feminist label, doesn't mean they aren't advocates for women's equality and success. >> what is it they don't like about that feminist label? >> in our research there was a breakdown across party lines. democratic women felt much more favorably toward it. independent women were quite split. republican women felt most alienated or turned off from that term. i think part of it is that feminism unfortunately has been entangled with being a democrat or being a liberal. it doesn't necessarily have to be that. what we found is we appeal to women who aren't quite sure if today's feminism is in line with their values. >> you attract center right women, is that fair? >> we're a home for center right women. i don't think we have to exclusively be there. women's organizations that came out of feminist movement in the '60s and '70s w

rooips reince priebus, the rnc chairman, is not really having a firm hand when it comes to setting thethe debate. cnn could have two tiers, nbc could do three. no one really knows exactly how it's going unfold. >> so what happens, though, if we're -- let's try to play this out. we're getting close to the first fox debate that is going to be in cleveland. a group of seven, eight candidates who are all, as we say, the difference between being at 3% or 2% in the polls is the difference between getting in this debate and getting shut out. is that going to put sort of an incentive, a premium on doing something outlandish, something outrageous just to get attention and just to make sure you're on stage? >> it's going to be in a spectacle perhaps unlike anything we've ever seen. the 2012 experience haunts the republican party. they want to move beyond it. but now, it's not just about getting to that first debate in chief cleveland, it's about sustaining your candidacy by making sure you're on stage. to do that these days, you talk to every campaign, you have to find a way to go viral and you

jim gilmore is a former rnc chairman and former virginia governor and he joins me now from richmond. welcome welcome, governor. >> thank you, brian. >> when this story broke on thursday abc right away said it's afforded step number of husband. here's what it said. he should have taken the extra step to notify us and our viewers during the recent news reports about the foundation. he's admitted to an honest mistake and apologized for that omission. and the most important words are at the end, "we stand behind him." what more do you want to hear from abc about this? >> well first of all, brian, my position and what i believe is that george stephanopoulos not only is disqualified from moderating a republican debate i think he's disqualified from moderating a democratic debate. furthermore, i think he's disqualified completely from covering as a newsman the 2016 race. he should not be doing that. he's tied into the clintons. he may have tried to separate himself out from that but now with these donation revolutions, it's very clear that he is not an unbiased person. so he can't do that.

i want to bring in michael steele former rnc chair, and lieutenant governor of maryland also with usht, joe madison, sirius xm talk show host who with his listeners clearly have a pulse on the community of baltimore. no doubt that there's been a lot of reaction on your show in recent days. now, you haven't done a show since these charges were brought this afternoon. what do you think the reaction is going to be? what do you anticipate? what have you heard? >> well what i've heard is that you have relief. we anticipated -- and i had said on the show earlier that if there was anything short of what this prosecutor came up with, the leaders in that community -- and i don't care if it was elijah cummings or the mayor or the ministers they were going to have a tough time keeping the lid on. that is what i heard. so what you have here now are people who have as you said they feel they've been vindicated. and i agree with ron. i don't think this prosecutor was influenced at all by the protesters. because she kept her head down. we didn't know anything about her. she's only been in office a

. >> joining me is michael steele former rnc chair and lieutenant governor of maryland.ard dean former dnc chair and vermont governor. glad to have you here. >> good to see you. >> michael, as former lieutenant governor and former resident of baltimore, what was your reaction to the state attorney's decision to charge the six officers involved in freddie gray's arrest? >> i think that she had come to the table with a thorough review of the facts as she had been able to gather them. i think a lot of things that were -- a lot of stuff that was missed was her statement saying we began this process. immediately hearing of mr. gray's death. so this was an ongoing process. it wasn't something that just was done in the past week when all the uproar and focus was on the rioting in the city. so i thought that she put together a good team. she's come -- she came to the table very forthrightly with transparency. she laid out the fact pattern. she laid out the argument. and now she's got the very difficult job of going out and proving that. she stood in the face of the police union
