the heavier snow is near roanoke, so it will be a while before the heavy snow starts. that's a solid area. it's moving straight at us. it's going to be hard to miss but it will on the northern edge of this. we're not going to get nearly as much snow in the hee lie valley as we get in southeastern pennsylvania. we're going to get less than -- they're going to get it in central delaware. the farther south you are, the more snow you'll get. snow is approaching baltimore right now. and this is the reason. the track of this storm is pretty far to the south. that means the heaviest snow will stay to the south. we're going to be on the edge of this storm. they're going to get blasted from washington down into north carolina. and it's going to be a different kind of storm. now, the storm will look for different amounts of snow from where you are. we turn to my colleague meteorologist sheena parveen. >> as glenn mentioned, we're on the northern edge of this storm. parts of the area will see quite a bit of snow accumulating. other parts not so much. here's how we'll break it dow

tennessee, that's the core of this storm and that's the one that will head in our direction across the roanoke valley towards the washington area later tonight. snow is heavy at times and the temperature is so cold, it will be tough driving. tough getting about anywhere later tonight and because of the cold air and the expansion of the snow national weather service has expanded the winter storm warning to the pennsylvania border. it's a big area under warning criteria right now. 12 in gaithersburg. 13 degrees at andrews. temperatures will hold steady. big question -- how much snow? we think by the time it tapers off and ends, after 7:00 or 8:00 in the morning generally five to eight. this is a guideline. a guideline. it doesn't mean the exact amounts. but the guideline of five to eight through the metro area. lesser amounts heading to the pennsylvania border and then closer to the storm track, southern maryland culpepper, stafford county prince william county fredricksburg and beyond, seven to 10 inches and the possibility down south of a little bit more. steve rudin joins me we'll have more o
