rob. >> hi there. you may be surprised by how mild what is one of the typically coldest months of the year has been around the bay area. right now this is what a typical day should look like. that has been the exception to the rule for this january. we've seen 18 days of above average high temperatures for san francisco, this is all part of the dry pattern which has also led to chilly nights with light winds and more than usual number of fair the air nights around the bay area so. the flip side to the warmer temperatures has been this dry pattern which has dropped off bay area rainfall totals to 40% to 30% of average from san francisco south and the snow pack looks poor for this time of year. as you roll into february looks like we'll see temperatures warming up again. we could hit 70-degree temperatures in parts of the bay area later this week. that is one of the changes we're tracking. the other includes the chance of showers which is why we have our doppler radar fired up. we'll have the full foreca

what's going on, rob? >> you hit it. we'll be seeing a lot of wind and some heavy rain right after sundown tonight. that's when the moisture is going to spill across the bay area. right now, we're starting to see the rain cross over. you can see around the east bay from west oakland south. we're looking at lighter rain. east of liver moor, some moderate rain. san jose still dry for most of the valley. look offshore there. just hitting the mountains issue the ocean-facing side now, a lot of moisture about to stream into the bay area. this is a one-two punch tonight. wind advisories up. could get up to 50 miles per hour this following all the heavy rain we had friday and saturday. now that the ground is saturated, it's not going to take very strong winds to bring down branches and trees. we also may have to watch out for power outages tomorrow morning. all this is finally bringing a lot of snow to the sierra. i think you'll be surprised at how much snow we're talking about tonight and how much rain around the bay area. we'

right now we want to check in with rob on what is going on with the weather. it was cold this morning. >> it is going to be even colder, if you can believe it. temperatures outside in the 30s around the bay area. that will be the headline the next couple of mornings. cold enough for a freeze watch for tomorrow in to tuesday morning. we could see 20s and 30s in the bay area to get your morning started. right now there's enough wind outside to keep our temperatures up a bit. as the winds back off monday in to tuesday is why the freeze watch will likely become a freeze warning for the bay area. starting on wednesday we will get more clouds and bring the temperatures up. rain will start to fall and plenty of it we think. especially for the north bay. right now no showers except up on the far northern coast. you can see a lot of moisture waiting to come ashore across california will be able to do that. as the jet stream drops to the south you can see the rain increasing. tuesday in to wednesday starting in the north bay. the first half of the week, again, those fre
