rob. upper level low right there. the weather pattern is weird. it's the el nino.jet stream. and in between, systems don't move because they're not pushed out by the jet stream. we've had this upper level low around new mexico and floating around the four corners for the last two to three days. heavy rain continues underneath that. you zoom into the area. most of it falling shy of albuquerque, but look at the steady stream of rain coming up from out of the south. it's going to be heavy times today. watch for another inch from albuquerque down to the south. we have flood advisories because of the rain you're anticipating for the afternoon that will finally end up overnight through tomorrow as that low finally gets absorbed into the westerlies by tomorrow afternoon. as for the bigger area of low pressure, it's right around texas now and there's a surface low attached to it too. plenty of moisture, plenty of energy out of the gulf of mexico, and it's all pulling in into lower parts of arkansas. you'll see an additional 1 to 2 inches of rain today. flash flood warnings

rob? let me show you what's happening. we have that stubborn area of low pressure around gulf of mexico.mphis. the showers stretch into the carolinas. it's been heavy at times over the last five to seven days. we've seen over a foot of rain in western arkansas. the flash flood warnings, watches, are still out there. let me zero into the heaviest rain action, south of memphis, memphis itself has a big thunderstorm complex immediately to the north. it's down south, this pocket of rain, in northwestern mississippi that's producing rainfall amounts of about one you to 1 assi1/2 inches per hou. it's drifting to the west. arkansas will get another taste later this afternoon. showers coming in toward nashville. it's light. kentucky has heavier rain, extending into virginia right now. also, notice the carolina piedmont beginning to fill in with rain in north carolina, down to south carolina and the beaches are getting just walloped with decent rain off and on for the day. that rain will last through the weekend. look at the flash flood watches for atlanta, the warnings are the areas shaded in li
