. >> rob marciano is at the cnn weather center in atlanta. tracking this for us, rob. >> it's pushing east across missouri. this is a huge storm system with many facets, guys. it's stretching all the way to the east coast. we'll start with the number of tornado reports and bind reports we saw with this. tornado reported in nebraska. that's the first time they've recorded a tornado in nebraska in the month of february. so already historic, and then all these wind reports as well, some over 70 miles an hour. and the red dots, those are areas we saw tornadoes touchdown, one potentially near branson and the other near a town called buffalo, missouri. damage there as well. and those cells are moving east across the state where we right now have tornado watches in effect until 9:00 central time. there you see that line heading just south of st. louis and eventually over towards evansville, indiana. we'll probably see the watches extended. meanwhile, to the north, a blizzard warning in effect. winds whipping and snow blowing sideways in most cases. m

meteorologist rob marciano is here to explain what are we looking at? launched two years ago, frederica. we have been getting really cool pictures similar to this for the past two years, these just came in a couple of days ago. store, is amazing stuff here. when you look at the size of what these tornadoes can be. now, granted, there's no weather on the sun and this isn't a solid surface so, this is plasma that's just being stretched in all different directions here by magnetic fields, you get that swirl right there. now, when you think about this, exactly how large these things are, you know, the size of the earth, that is probably about the size of the earth. so one of those puppies would pretty much engulf the earth. the solar dynamics observatory, the sdl, as we like to call it, is a satellite they put up and this is one of the things they are studying, the magnetic field, what drive it is and what exactly does do? $860 million project, a good thing we are getting cool pictures from this thing. this is not associated with a solar flare but cool pict

here is rob marciano. >> the storms are moving quite rapidly. a strong system. they move quickly. some of these cells are moving 60, 70 miles per hour. here's a rundown of where they came from and where they went. these blue markers are wind reports. some of which are over 70 miles per hour. not only tornado damage, but straight line wind damage as well. one report up in nebraska, that's the first time on record we've seen a tornado in nebraska in february this is more of a springlike storm. 15 reports of tornadoes so far. you saw some of the damage from these twisters. tornado watches in effect until 1:00. these will probably be extended to the east. this area in through here is what the storm's prediction center is most worried about you can expect the threat for isolated tornadoes there with a moderate risk of seeing that. some other video we've seen come in, north of -- you know, there was one cell that rolled just north, and then at times along the ohio river. it started out in illinois, then cruised just south of evansville. newburg, indiana, just south an
