i got pushed around driving out there today, rob mayeda. >> we're seeing wind speeds out there up to 20 miles per hour. right now we're seeing some gusty winds into san jose. gusts up to 25 miles per hour. and also around san francisco, it's been a very blustery day. you can see the low clouds there, wind gusts up to 30 miles per hour. bay area wide, winds primarily on shore. notice the direction of the arrows here. so the air isn't quite dry out there. the marine air continues to surge inland. that's why the temperatures have been fairly cool today. later this week, north winds pick up as the temperatures begin to climb. tonight, gusty winds through about 8:00 or so. tomorrow morning, some mist possible on the koeps. now we're tracking a chance of showers. starting off in the north bay tomorrow as a cold weather system drops in from the north, this system will bring cooler air aloft with a chance of thunder showers. across the rest of the bay area on tuesday and with dry lightning part of the potential, that increases fire danger for parts of the bay area. we'll look at that in the

rob mayeda is here with the forecast. in the past week we have had summer and spring. what is it going to be like? >> right now spring and maybe feeling like fall by the beginning of next week. right now the sea breeze the big force in our weather bringing temperatures down to 67 in san jose. at&t park starting to fill up. we have a game coming up at 6:05. first pitch temperature about 62 degrees and wind 20 miles per hour. some gusts a little bit higher than that. and the marine air has dropped our inland temperatures. livermore 71. most inland spots more than ten degrees cooler than this time yesterday especially towards the trivalley where you have had the sea breeze keeping temperatures down. now you see sustained winds 20 to 25 miles per hour. you will see the winds flare back up again tomorrow which will lead to a cooler finish for the weekend. if you are out you will want a jacket as you head outside. could have mist along the coast near san francisco and highs tomorrow 60s to even lower 70s. so sunday's temperatures cooling down a little bit. monday to tuesday

meteorologist rob mayeda joining us with a first look at weather. >> the first look at weather looks cool compared to two days ago. 67 degrees in san jose and livermore. the drop-off we're seeing at the inland temperatures as much as almost 20 degrees cooler at this hour in livermore and san martin. areas inland really cooled down today. the marine layer thickened up throughout the afternoon. temperatures continue to drop as you can see, only 71 in campbell. just two days ago we were well into the 90s around the south bay santa clara location valleys. the peninsula, comfortably in the mid 60s. chilly around san francisco now. we're into the 50s around parts there near downtown and around the tri valley. here's where the cooling was at its strongest today. really dropping those temperatures down. upper 60s currently in dublin. and into the north bay, winds now shifting out of the south pushing in the marine air cooling off wine country locations as we kick off the weekends. tonight, breezy at times. into tomorrow morning, enough low clouds and thickening marine layer. i think we could

meteorologist rob mayeda joins us for a look at this wild weather in may and look at another change coming up. >> just as soon as some winter-like conditions come into the sierra we'll see a real taste of summer. in the meantime gusty winds around the bay area and wind gusts above 40 miles per hour. right now down at sfo they're seeing sustained winds at 35 miles an hour out of the west and gusty into san jose, winds 20 to 30 miles per hour. you can see the winds widespread, and expect these wind speeds to stay strong through 9:00 tonight, easing off a little after midnight. we've also seen a few showers briefly around the north bay hilltops, up around napa county and solano county. now just a band of clouds massing through. this windy pattern caused by that cold winter-like low to the east, high off to the west the wind machine right over the bay area will keep things gusty tonight but just as quickly as things turned chilly and windy, we'll see changes as the gusty evening transitions to a warmer day tomorrow. mother's day plans look just fine but too much of a good thing where that heat

rob mayeda joins us. look at this odd weather and more to come. >> right now we're seeing a lot of winds around the bay area. this is an area of low pressure that's tracking east of the sierra and high pressure off to the west and in between the bay area, wind gusts up to 41 miles per hour around san francisco. and a cool day, mostly 60s across the board right now and you can see those winds around palo alto really moving that camera around pretty good. so wind speeds strengthening. it did bring us a few sprinkles or light showers at times around napa county into parts of solano county earlier and still dropping some snow. we saw that on interstate 80 moving south of highway 50 as that system continues to move to the east. between that area of high pressure to the west and trough to the east blustery conditions will continue through this evening and overnight tonight. that's how things will start off early on mother's day sunday, but decreasing winds into the afternoon. look at the highs on sunday, back i

. >> meteorologist rob mayeda joins us now. there's an excessive heat warning coming up, too. >> within 24 hours will get upgraded to a warning for the bay area starting tuesday into wednesday. we're seeing the problem with fire danger. gusty winds and temperatures still in the 70s and 80s. we've warmed up some from yesterday. but the wind speeds have also been part of the story around areas closer to where that fire is burning. southeast of san jose. northwest winds sustained up at about 20 miles per hour per hour. these humidity levels dropping off. fairfield and livermore, 15% humidity. this is what happens when you get high pressure that setsum. it a up. gets the breezy conditions. warms up our temperatures. air is compressed down to sea level. it warms things and dries thing out. excessive heat watch for tuesday into wednesday. valley temperatures in this time frame, come wednesday, 95 to 100 degrees. but what's unusual about this heat spell is the coast and bay will also see those temperatures soaring into the 80s and 90s

. >>> rob mayeda here now. a very windy day. we've got summer just down the road, right? >> bypassing spring altogether right now. we have snow in the sierra right now and some gustygusty, bluste conditions out across the bay. you've got wind gusts up to 41 miles an hour. sfo up to 43 about an hour ago, sustained winds at 35 miles per hour. so windy and cool. right now not only is the air cold, it's coming in off the ocean, which is keeping our temperatur temperatures, as you see them right now, low 60s in san francisco, mid-60s in san jose, but these numbers may be 30 degrees warmer. the winds will be coming in, in an opposite direction. look at these wind speeds up to 34, 35 miles an hour and 25-mile-per-hour winds in san jose. and here's the culprit. we've got this winter-like low dropping down on the east side of the sierra. you see the snow there. earlier around the hill tops of napa county and solano county, a few brief showers. that line has weakened moving north to south. we're still seeing snow highway 50 south heading into yosemite. snow near 6,000 feet which gi

let's check in with meteorologist rob mayeda with the microclimate forecast. >> sunny around the bay area. 70 out there around livermore already. and over towards san francisco, 68 right now. good timing with that nice, warm weather as we've got the game today at 12:45. close to that temperature we're seeing right now, northwest winds, 10 to 20 miles per hour. and in oakland as we head towards the evening, a game with the a's coming up after 6:00. 65 degrees and the bruno mars forecast too. you've got that concert happening at the same time. mid-60s as we head through the evening. wind, the big story today. mainly the direction of these winds. notice that fairfield and concord turning now out of the north. and that's a problem. that's a dry wind for parts of the bay area, specifically out towards solano county. it will be these locationst locations between now and thursday at 8:00 that we'll continue to have a red flag warning out towards vallejo and fairfield. and the weather pattern that's prompting these dry northwesterly winds inland and the trough of low pressure that's sitting

i'm kris sanchez along with rob mayeda.see a camera bounce around. >> a little bit, but notice the temperature there. 60 in san francisco. the winds are now starting to pick up out of the north and turning offshore, which means a warmer day today. unlike the ocean air conditioning on overdrive we saw through the afternoon yesterday. those winds begin to change direction, we'll see our temperatures warm up about 5 to 10 degrees versus the high temperatures we saw yesterday. despite the chilly start, a few spots in the valley, we'll be in the 80s for the afternoon, and the winds will pick up as we head to sunset tonight. these will be north winds, which means the temperatures outside looking warmer. we're talking 80s around sarah toga and morgan hills. 70s today in san francisco. if you head to the north bay and trivalley, two locations in the 80s today that could be approaching 90 tomorrow and upper 90s, by the way, in the forecast as we approach wednesday. >> thanks, rob. new this morning, san jose police shot a teenage sus

i'm kris sanchez along with rob mayeda, who has a look at a forecast that i think is still cooler. >>still fairly cool. we've got a lot of clouds out this morning, which is helping keep the temperatures up, at least for morning lows. 54 degrees right now in san jose. during the day, we'll see high clouds passing by and patches of low clouds near the coast and temperatures overall much like we saw yesterday in terms of the high temperatures. close to 70 in san jose. upper 60s around the peninsula. upper 60s for most of the north day. close to 70 in napa, and toward the trivalley, numbers in the low 70s. as we head into the afternoon today, one thing to watch as we get into monday and tuesday, there will be a chance monday night into early tuesday of seeing at least a few showers. also the winds are going to pick up. gusty winds at times tomorrow night into tuesday, and a cool start to the week. those temperatures staying right where we are at least through tuesday afternoon. >> thank you very much. >>> a somber morning for bay area sports fans after a season ending loss for the golden
