we continue our team coverage with meteorologist rob mayeda. rob, how are the conditions right now at ocean beach? >> well, we've been watching those temperatures during the day and also the sign behind advising rip currents being a possibility on ocean beach. on days like this, warm temperatures around midday climb noog the 70s out there with mostly sunny skies, generally good visibility, the wave heights 6 to 10 feet and water temperatures in the low 50s. those are rough conditions, sometimes larger waves coming in, could easily get knocked down by sneaker waves at times. we're seeing wave heights holding steady 6 to 10 feet and during the day tomorrow we probably won't have issues with fog along the coast as the winds turn strongly offshore during the day tomorrow. so again, the ocean temperature is in the low 50s, but our daytime temperatures as early as noon tomorrow drawing more people out to the coast, 80 degrees as early as midday tomorrow. we'll talk more about some near records on the way for your sunday forecast coming up in a few mi

meteorologist rob mayeda is with us. let's start with the record breaking heat. >> in many cases, smashing records. in the case of the south bay, the old record was 86. 91 to the. move et field, braking the record of 83. san francisco tying a record. richmond and oakland the low 80s. average highs should be in the upper 60s to near 70. many places 15 to 20 degrees above average and still mid-80s south of downtown san jose right now. i can show you downtown. it's 79 degrees. so the breeze is starting to pick up. 79 in dublin. interior locations towards antioch and brentwood, in the upper 80s still. san francisco, 75 degrees and yes, 60s and 70s now as the sea breeze finally starts to build. this is part of two weather systems we're watching. the first one will bring some cooling and a few clouds. the one behind it, though, will bring rain chances up for the second half of the week. we'll let you know how much rain we're expecting and if it may impact the weekend ahead in the full forecast a few minutes from now. raj? >> r

meteorologist rob mayeda, what's it going to do? >> we're seeing cooling effects and clouds. 68 degrees is the hottest area around the bay area right now. big change from yesterday's 80s and 90s. san francisco 63 degrees. all across the bay area the winds are turning on shore. 24-hour temperature change shows tremendous cooling compared to yesterday. 18 degrees cooler in san francisco. 25 degrees cooler in half moon bay as the winds have turned on shore you're getting the fog, low clouds, also increasing clouds coming up out of southern california where there's been seeing the rain which is now moving up from santa barbara county into the central valley. eventually we'll go from these high clouds we're seeing spilling over the bay area right now into tomorrow morning, lowering in elevation enough that we could see some scattered showers there for the morning commute and the potential for some thunderstorms showing up late tomorrow into the start of the weekend. we'll take you through the time how much rain we expect out of the syste

meteorologist rob mayeda has more on the storm. rob? >> yes. right now, san jose is about 58 degrees. you can still see light rain to the southeast of downtown. in dublin once again, 59 currently. yes, the tri-valley and east bay hills, generally areas east of 680, on the rainfall estimated radar, for areas near the tri-valley, 1 to 2 inches of rain over the last few days. the monthly average for april is about an inch. so for places like livermore, just this weekend, right now most of the rain for the tri-valley has moved on as the air is forced to rise up and over south of san jose. they are still seeing a little bit of light rain. as we head towards tomorrow morning, mostly cloudy skies. the mist and drizzle is possible around south bay. temperatures in the 50s for the morning and then we're watching our second storm system for the week taking shape here offshore. this will have access to some colder air that sweeps through midweek, meaning snow levels as low as 4,000 feet possible and another round of some rain and some cooler temperatures.

meteorologist rob mayeda has the latest on the storm. how much do you think we have? >> light rain southeast of downtown and also the tri-valley seeing misty skies. 58 degrees. and speaking of dublin and livermore, here's the radar detected rainfall totals out of the last two days. and you can see for areas especially east of 680, over to concord and brentwood, 1 to 2 inches of rainfall. in the south bay, too, san jose closing in on an inch of rain. not really adding to it too much. some of that moist air is rising up over the hills from the north to south. still seeing light rain. you can see here on the radar loop it's moving offshore. a chance of a few light sprinkles or a few brief light showers from north to south heading into tomorrow morning. drizzle to start. and then our attention will turn beyond what we will see for tomorrow morning, which will be misty skies. what is happening further out in the pacific, we see a colder storm system arriving right around midweek that brings snow levels as low as 4500 feet and wind and some rain back to the bay area. we'll

also watch lging it closely meteorologist rob mayeda tracking the rain from the weather center. a misty rainy day. >> we're still seeing rain falling outside at&t park. our camera looking at 61 degrees. the rain totals very impressive by april standards. looking at about a half inch of rain in napa. mill valley three quarters inch of rain. what's interesting is the usual places not with the biggest rain totals, brentwood and arina, an inch of rain. out toward san jose, a half inch of rain. what's unusual about this pattern instead of rain falling in the santa cruz mountains, southwest winds aloft, the rain is coming from the east helping the air rise up over the tri-valley and getting mountain force lift there on our interior mountain locations, ranges away from the ocean. see the counterclockwise rotation around this low to our south has been bringing the rain from east to west during the day. see more coming into san francisco across the peninsula there. east bay seeing the showers. san jose later tonight. as the rain starts to drop more from north to south. we'll see another

robert handa is live in san jose, but let's start with meteorologist rob mayeda. >> right now, to start relatively light amounts. we see a drizzle storm there across the golden gate bridge with the misty skies. san jose, 64. you can see on the radar just a few passing light rain showers. this should be the story of the first half of the evening. mainly light showers passing on by there into san francisco but more substantial showers and thunderstorms there in the sierra where for now, that's where all the thunderstorm activity will be staying. but notice moisture coming up from the south. we'll see increasing chances of rain. and watching the time frame from 7:00 to 10:00 at night, you can see the rainfall accumulations. light rain should not stop the game and probably won't delay it if those are the rain rates we're looking at. temperatures in the 60s and eventually upper 50s as the game goes on. later on tonight into tomorrow morning now you're looking at the potential for a half inch of rain and that, obviously, would stop the game at times. the rain does get heavier after midnight t

meteorologist rob mayeda has latest on a weekend warm-up. >> we're seeing temperatures overall about 10 to 15 degrees warmer than they should be. here's another view from the north looking south to san francisco from belvedere, 79 degrees right now. average highs should be in the low 60s. instead, we're seeing mid-to-upper 70s around downtown san francisco. and out to the west, clear skies, no sign of fog there, just some high clouds on approach around ocean, temperatures in the low 70s. in dublin right now, 79 degrees. east bay hills as warm as the mid-80s earlier. you see caster valley. and look at the sinking warm air towards alameda, upper 80s right now where the temperatures, actually, the air is pressed downward and it compresses, dries out and warms up and you can see that in the valleys of the east bay and south bay. numbers will up even more tomorrow, still close to almost 80 in san jose right now. you see hazy skies there. winds have been offshore. that's the reason why the temperatures even out to half moon bay still 70 right now. overall, 24-hour temperature change, 10 to

let's check in with meteorologist rob mayeda to see what's in store tonight and also tomorrow, rob. >> speaking of tomorrow, giants already put out the tarps on the infield. 61 degrees. more rain falling around at&t park where they did see a half-hour delay today due to the rain and you can see some of the rain totals we've had around the bay area pretty impressive when you consider the time of year. most places picking up about a half inch of rain but a higher totals out toward the east bay. look at brentwood, three quarters inch of rain plus. livermore, inch of rain. san jose, half inch of rain. very interesting, the santa cruz mountains seeing the least amount of rain. this is the typical pattern where winds come off the ocean. instead what we're seeing is winds coming out of the east forcing that air to rise over those inland hilltops. we're seeing our highest rain totals of this storm right there around the tri-valley. more rain around dublin, livermore right now. the rain moving from east to west will go from north to south as an area of high pressure tracks by to our south head

meteorologist rob mayeda joining us now with the details. rob? >> we saw records nap parks san francisco, concord, oakland and out near moffett field. you can see the highs in the mid-80s. we did see a few spots, including sunol near 90 degrees this afternoon. here is a look at tomorrow's record high temperatures we have to beat the break new records. of those, i think the 82 in oakland and 86 in san jose could be beaten by the temperatures we're expecting on the way tomorrow. and look, it's still 70 right now in san jose. dublin a little cooler, 62 degrees. the interesting thing to point out, san francisco 65. that temperature is warmer than the average high for this time of year which is 63 degrees. not much of a sea breeze, but the first of two weather system we expect to bring a chance of rain. that's going to bring cooling. by the end of the week rainfall totals could climb to close half an inch of rain. we'll talk more about the timing of the two storms and when the cooler weather will arrive and a forecast just a few minutes from now. >> t

a few affects of the storm as we gear up for more rain coming tomorrow and rob mayeda has been tracking that. how much will we get? >> the numbers are considerable when looking at in april some places close an inch of rain. look at livermore. more than an inch of rain has fallen there, and it has been interesting that the rain has not been moving and instead it is moving east to west. you have been seeing rainfall totals. this area of low pressure to the south, counter clockwise continues to bring in the rain from the northeast around the bay area. still seeing light rain around san francisco, and moderate rain around the trivalley, and most locations around the east bay and south bay have the chance to pick up another half inch of rain out of the system. by the end of the weekend, livermore possibly more than an inch and a half of rain. that takes us through noon and 1:00 tomorrow and we will let you know how long the rain will last for the rest of your morning and more sierra snow in the picture and your 7-day forecast coming up. >>> do stay ahead of the rain with our free bay area ap

let's bring in meteorologist rob mayeda who has this updated timeline for us. >> temperatures about 10 to 15 degrees warmer than yesterday at this same time. san jose running in the mid-80s. 82 in san jose. out towards walnut creek, 81 degrees as some of the east bay micro climates also in the 80s. antioch, brentwood, we'll take you over to san francisco. typically the coolest micro climates around the bay area should be right there near ocean beach but pretty interesting, you can see the numbers here, upper 60s and 70s. right now we're fog-free out at ocean beach. a little bit of a late day sea breeze occurring right now, but the winds will change direction tonight into tomorrow. and that is going to set the stage for a warm-up that takes us very likely past some record highs tomorrow. so the numbers to beat tomorrow, upper 80s to low 90s. low 90s breaking records in the north bay, clubbed closing in on one and san jose. we're talking about record breaking temperatures. what's going to break the heat is this system here which is also bringing in increasing chance of rain. so we'll go

let's begin now with rob mayeda. it wasn't a little rainstorm at all. >> we're watching rain rates very closely there in san francisco. you might have noticed we saw the intensity of the game pick up. moderate rain at times, 59 degrees. rain totals across san francisco. this is the reason the game didn't see any delays. less than a tenth an inch. and moderate to heavy rain out toward livermore. quarter inch of rain has fallen so far. impressive totals toward san jose, half inch around morgan hill. we'll continue to see a potential for half inch of rain between now and about lunchtime tomorrow. in addition to that, areas in the south bay will have a chance for some thunderstorms, picking up as we head toward the afternoon. that is another item to watch with small hail, gusty winds. we'll let you know how much more rain you can expect and the rest of your weekend forecast coming up in 12 minutes from now. >>> two giants games in the bay area tonight. only one rain delay. ian cull is in los gatos. >> reporter: here in d

let's check in with meteorologist rob mayeda right now and see how gorgeous it's going to be. >> andver the next seven days happening right now as we wrap up the weekend and still close to 80 degrees around the peninsula. there you see the sunshine. a few high clouds approaching from the west. 82 degrees still around the north bay, san jose 79 degrees. looking pretty nice with hazy sunshine looking to the south. around dublin, 78 degrees. what's pretty interesting here is you're not seeing much of a difference from san francisco to dublin. sometimes that can be as much as 20 degrees, but with the winds turning offshore, still 77 in san francisco. look at the sunshine atop mt. tam. heading out, the coast is still clear. wave heights are 10 to 12 feet, but clear skies as the winds have picked up for you out of the northwest. but during the day tomorrow, we'll see that shifting again offshore. so, it's helped to really clear out our skies, and if high pressure is anchored in just to our north, we have this weather pattern now as winds are turning offshore, sinking, warming air aloft und
