let's check in with meteorologist rob mayeda with a look at our weekend forecast. it's a little darker outside right now because it's normally 6:18. >> that's true. >> we get to enjoy lighter evenings now. >> right, so we lost sleep, we're getting a little more rain maybe today. but the seven-day forecast trending drier and warmer. that's second half of the week. outside right now, more clouds and showers. san francisco 47 degrees, a little breezy at times, as you see there, in san jose, if you're looking to the east of downtown san jose, partly cloudy skies, toward mt. hamilton there's some snow showers, temperatures around us so this morning in the mid-40s but kind of a misleading view. to the east it's partly cloudy but to the west of san jose that's where all the action is back toward sunnyvale and saratoga. good showers, brief downpours, milpitas to sunol grade. marin valley showers continue and most of theber bay area not seeing rain and the area of low pressure compact one there slowly turning down the coast as we head through the afternoon today and that wi

meteorologist rob mayeda is here for vianey looking at our microclimate forecast. i am wearing green for the both of us. >> i would disappear, which happens to be close to that same color. my contribution is the weather. a little bit chilly this morning. a nice view of the green behind the international orange golden gate bridge. right now 49 degrees. that is as warm as it gets this morning. you can see 49 around sfo and san mateo but look at morgan hill, 38 degrees. 41 in napa and this time of year you can start off in the 30s and get into the mid-70s by 3:00 this afternoon. morgan hill 75, similar in san jose in the tri-valley, low 70s around san francisco and oakland. a few high clouds today is worth watching. as we widen out the view off of the west we have a gorgeous finish to the weekend. all of the clouds lead to changes in the seven-day forecast. we'll give you the countdown when rain makes a big comeback, in our forecast about 15 minutes from now. >> can't we just enjoy the gorgeous weather while we have it? it's good, you're warning us what's to come, you

rob micah is mayeda is in. i have to keep telling everyone because i wasn't aware that it's already daylight savings time. >> the weather hasn't sprung. >> no, it sure hasn't. but we still have two more weeks before spring starts. winter is getting its time while it can. >> the reason why you see the weather alert, is radar is showing some rain approaching the coast and that is a pretty good dose there. probably about a quarter inch of rain per hour with that band that's going to come through and more showers behind it today. so while the rain totals are aren't going to be too much between now and 5:00, the highest will be in the mountains. it's an inconvenience for any outdoor plans today. as you notice, our highs may get your attention. only low 50s today and by the way, the air is cold enough that later today around mount hamilton or the higher peaks of the bay area, the calendar says march but we're talking about a chance of snowfalls at the high peaks. >>> hopefully there's some sunshine there, thanks. ang

meteorologist rob mayeda tracking the weather for us. rob? >> still seeing a few scattered showers out there, more so around the tri valley, as you see in the doppler radar, scanning across the bay, down towards palo alto. thundershowers off to the east of the bay area. tonight you want to keep the umbrella on stand by. rain totals generally less than a tenth of an inch, however, look what's coming our way. we could return of an atmospheric river pattern. we'll see who has the potential for flooding into tuesday and wednesday. and the look at heavier rain in about 15 minutes. >> as the floodwater recedes, residents are coming back to their homes in guerneville and other river communities. they're seeing the damage first hand, beginning to dig and clean it all up. we're getting preliminary numbers now, christie smith joins us with how it's all going. >> reporter: as you can imagine, these residents have had a very long, hard day up here. and now the hard work really begins. you drive around up here, and you see scenes like this one. people rem

's a little different this time around is a lot of the moisture may end up staying just to the south of the bay area. so the rainfall projections last week around this time as much a. 9-10 in the hills. this go around probably 2-3 in the hill tops and risk to river flooding not as elevated. the russian river last week at guerneville just below 46 week. this week, about 25.9 expect on thursday. almost a 20 foot difference from what we saw last week. 2-3 inches of rain is a lot different than the foot totals we saw around parts near guerneville. what we could see are flash flood watches for smaller creeks and streams. as rainfall gets more intense into thursday morning. we'll give you time line if about 15 minutes. >>> rob thank you. and as always you can fo

rob mayeda is with us now. here we are with 70 degrees. >> that's all in southern california. in arizona, they're seeing that same storm. we enjoyed mostly sunny skies. warm day today and more of that in the seven-day forecast. but one little pothole on that seven-day forecast before things warm up is tomorrow's weather, which will involve wind and a few widely scattered showers. san francisco, 53 degrees, mostly clear skies. 40s and 50s, mainly clear. tomorrow morning, another chilly start with some upper 30s and low 40s. good enough for patchy frost before the winds pick up. highs tomorrow generally in the 60s inland. bayside and coast as the winds pick up will feel cooler tomorrow. 58 in san francisco. 62 in san jose and 61 in livermore. radar right now, not seeing a whole lot. it's probably not going to see much in the way of rain out of the system. as it crosses through the bay area, not much moisture coming with it. but the wind will be picking up. there's a look at the future cast for rainfall. not much there. good enough for a stray shower or two. we think in the north
