let's bring in rob mayeda. >> not how much wind going on. that's part of the story. warm air pocket begins to rise away from the ground, as the ground warms up, it heats the air above. and as the column of warm air rises and stretches up higher in the atmosphere we see the winds at the surface begin to accelerate and the spinning motion begins to increase. so if wind speed's strong enough to pick up debris and cause damage to rooftops, and that can stay in motion until cool air comes in or the warmer updraft shuts down and the dust devil begins to break up. some of these stronger dust devils can pack a punch of an ef-0 tornado, winds of 65-85 miles per hour. as you just saw out there in fairfield, that is good enough for rooftop damage at times. as you can see, clear skies, light wind, warm air rising is the perfect recipe for dust devils. right now it's not dust devils we're tracking. the return of gusty winds that could be strong enough to cause damage. a closer look at that in the forecast in about 15 minutes. >> it is worth another look. we posted that video of t
