let's bring in rob mayeda. fall is going to make a comeback. >> a little windy, too. we've been seeing a lot of that in san jose in the south bay this evening. temperatures will dive another 5 to 8 degrees cooler than what we saw today. outside right now, san jose still has breezy conditions. winds actually out of the south which were a little gusty at times. we saw gusts up to 30 miles per hour a couple hours ago. right now still 69 degrees. wind out of the south at 17 miles per hour. now out towards contra costa county in walnut creek, 66 degrees finally. you might be able to give your air conditioning the night off out there as we've had some overnight temperatures in the 70s the last couple days with that heat. that has now moved on with the west wind at 12 miles per hour. you can see the low clouds downtown over san francisco. 64 degrees, on shore winds bringing in the low clouds. increasing the humidity, but also picking up the wind speeds. but the good news at least at sea level, the humid the numbers are starting to come up. the return of the marine on-shore p

the rising seas, meteorologist rob mayeda joins us now.s a real issue for us. >> important to point out the changes in la alaska and greenland are impacting us. first off, sea level rise due to sea, ice and glacier that is the prime contributor to the sea level rise around the world, about 67% of that, a prime component of that is the ice loss in greenland. about 30% of that sea ice and glacier loss occurring in one place right there in greenland. but the other component you may not consider, the warming ocean temperatures. as the water warms, it expands and cause the sea level rise. it contributes to a third of the sea level rise we're seeing now as the warmer air gets trapped below. here's joe rosato jr. on how parts of bay area are preparing for the changes we're seeing outside right now. >> on the central end of san francisco's waterfront, what's old is becoming new. developer brookfield properties is transforming this former industrial shipbuilding complex, pier 70 into san francisco's newestaterfront neighborhood. >> once complete, i

let's bring back meteorologist rob mayeda who has more. >> and we're tracking those carbon emissionspecifically carbon monoxide that's known as the greenhouse effect, the heat that rises up and gets trapped by that carbon dioxide and reradiates it back down to the earth's surface. it acts like a lighthouse or like windows in a parked car where the energy gets trapped and can't aska. when it comes to the carbon dioxide levels since the 1960s you can see that steady rise and the leading source of it is transportation. so what can be done about this? some bay area companies are trying to remove more of that co2 from the equation. and here's a closer look. >> well, cars are a big target when it comes to climate change and here's why. when we drive gas powered cars we put 9,000 grams of carbon dioxide into the air each year and that adds up. combined america pumps more than 4.5 metric tons of co2 into the airnnually and now bay area companies are fight back by going electric. to put it simply the cars we drive are hurting the planet. carbon dioxide by the ton polluting the air we breathe.
