this fire has exploded in size, we head over to rob mayeda, we get a clear view of the fire. this is a 12 hour time lapse of the camera, of the fire. that has got to be crazy on the ground. >> that is known as a structure on top of that wildfire column plume. that is when it generates its own lightning. we saw that during the day, more importantly, allows long- range spotting with some very gusty winds, you can see what happened around sunrise, look at that bloom. a tremendous amount of smoke. within eight hours of time, you have that fire going up 25,000 acres burned just overnight. let's show you what we got on the radar, this is a sign of an active fire when you are seeing it on radar and you are seeing these high reflectivity values. a sign of ash and embers being lofted up into the air, the weather is not helping with low humidity. low temperatures tonight, upper 70s to low 80s. and complicating firefighting efforts tomorrow, with the heat and dry conditions. lightning strikes and still expecting more storms in the forecast bear, but not far away from the bay area tonigh

we want to bring in meteorologist rob mayeda who has been tracking those conditions . has the rain moves through or do they have want to come? >> the last 24 hours have extreme rainfall totals through portions of eastern kentucky. you see these areas of pink and purple. 5 to 8 inches of rain leading to widespread flooding. kentucky is getting a bit of a but you can see intense storms and localized flooding possible down through memphis and tennessee through the midday hours. back in the bay area we have nothing like that pick we have drizzle in san francisco and temperatures in the 60s. 80s inland around the tri- valley and morgan hill. this weekend we have extra mugging is in the air as monsoon moisture comes in from the east and we could see and isolated shower by early monday. >>> now checking the latest gas prices around the bay area. >> it's getting for the weekend. you may want to fill up because you have weekend day trips. let's check out these prices. though not as low as the prices from yesterday but in san jose we see $5.39. i will post these on facebook. in
