[applause] >> thank you. thank you for coming out. thank you to my friends that are here, including senior officials under the secretary of state. i also want to acknowledge doug of the senior economic analyst at 9 advisory company -- at my advisory company who did the numbers crunching for this, which is a capacity of mine that has become very rusty. my interest in the issue of what is really happening to the incomes of americans really began in 1988. i was running economic policy in the michael dukakis campaign, and he was making the statement comparing the median income in 1988 and the median income that some significant point in the past, whether it was 10 years or 15 years, and he said the incomes of the american people have stagnated. i went to him, and i said in know, that is really not correct. the median has stagnated, but the incomes of the actual people, as people age, they move from below the median to above the median. you're never really capturing the experience. i spoke

rob morgan chief investment strategist jjins me now. let's start with the fiscal cliff. think this is just way oversold, somebody out there selling a bill of goods trying to scare people. >> i think congress created the parameters around the fiscal cliff. congress will find a way to and -- are we going to come up with a grand compromise? no. we won't do that. are we going to kick that can down the road? more than likely yes. is that calamitous for the stock markets? notes. it's not the solution you want. gerri: i'm glad you're convinced. i'm not covinced. gerri: if they fail we are looking at 12 percent unemployment, 6 million jobs lost by 2015. this is a report from the national association of manufacturers up today. it mak the case that this would be calamitous for the economy and calamitous for stocks of companies trying to make earnings. >> i did not say they were going to do the right thing. i said there were going to avoid calaty. avoid a calamity. i do believe they will do hat. that's a done deal. gerri: i hope you're right because i don't have all the confidence
