jo ling: i want to go first to rob morgan. tell me, what do you think of that, do you agree?'t agree. i do agree that jobs are going to be lost if we have a higher minimum wage, but unlike her, think it is a long-term phenomenon. i think higher minimum wage is a job killer. if you are managing a payroll in aggregate and the ceo of a company is saying we ought to keep costs down, you'll find ways efficiencies getting rid of people. i disagree with that. jo ling: david, what is your take on this? >> i would also disagree. a little business experience would support raising the minimum wage as a way to increase the workforce. i think it is consistent with ben bernanke dropping money from helicopters. the idea is to get my directly into the economy as quickly as you can by handing money to people who will spend every last dime, that is the keynesian model of let's get things going, spend every dime, don't, discourage savings and decreased consumer spending. philosophically i have issues with that and from a very practical or pragmatic standpoint i think it is going to be an inhibi

we may not see rates up any time soon. >> rob morgan, that's why you're weighting stocks over bonds right now, right? >> absolutely, bill. i think that certainly we'll enter a rate hythe hike cycle at some point but it probably won't come until next year and typically in a bull market of stocks, stocks continue to rise on average a year after the rate hike so i see the bull market continuing with legs even though we're near record highs and you're actually right on that. >> growth or value? >> well, i continue to like small-cap growth though it's been really kind of a risk-off year so far and large-cap value has so far done better. i think the dollar will continue to go up. that probably hurts the multi-nationals a little bit and helps the small caps, and i think more of what i like consistent growth is more than momentum growth. >> also to friday, added 288,000 last month and. expected are for a two handle again this time around. do you think that the action we're seeing is reflective of people positioning for a stronger number again for a strong read iing? >> yes, on the surface but whe

well, rob morgan is not here. why don't you answer that, kenny. >> feels tired to me. can you feel the last couple of days, there's not a lot of volume. there's not a lot of excitement. there's excitement in one sector, m & a for sure, but everything else kind of teams to be just trudging along, right, as the market churns. that's exactly what we're going to see for a while. >> monica, there were a couple of interesting development in the data this morning. the first was job openings looked pretty good recently. small business cementment, both improved and the prices index indicates a little bit of pricing pressure in the pipeline. how do you invest that? how do you -- if you like this story, how do you think it might be sustainable? what's an investor to do? >> i think it's telling you various aspect of the economy have a little bit more confidence, but as far as small business owners go, confidence doesn't help them grow their business. money helps them grow their business and liquidity continues to be a big problem for this sector of the economy. you had a story jus

from the finance report for courts, rob morgan, kenny bocari and are rick santelli as welch. kenny, a quiet market. a wait and see market waiting for the fed tomorrow. >> it's been the fed, what's happening in iraq. it's been uncertainty over what the next policy movement will be. not only from the administration but also from the fed. therefore, you have seen the markets have been stuck in a very tight range. 1950 on the down side. 1950 on the upside. support and resistance in there. not a lot of action as it waits for clarity. >> one of the things that's clearly moving the market and a big development this year is the increase we are seeing in deal activity. we are talking already about the number of deals surpassing 2007 levels. the amount might be shy and we are only in june. this could be a big deal. i wonder how much some of the small cap names that recovered are doing on the back of acquisition hopes. >> yeah. there is a lot of activity in the m & a universe. good news for banking. you are seeing trading instead of the tight range we have been trading in. that will all

joining us is rob kindler, morgan stanley vice chairman and head of m&a.in a lot of these transactions that have taken place over the past couple of weeks. can we start with inversions? >> sure. sure. >> how many more are we going to see? do you think this is a good -- do you think there's a policy response? what do you think is going to happen here? >> look at the end of the day, inversions, they've been around for awhile. we did one of the earlier ones with cooper eaton. it still comes down to fundamental value with the deal. people don't do deals just for inversions. the fact is if you're a target company on the other side of these inversions you want some of that value in the deal. so it's not exactly like, you know, that for the buyer it's all just upside. >> does seem like there's a lot more of them. i know they've been around for a long time. seems like there's this huge boom. is that a reflection of u.s. tax policy? >> i think there's a lot to that. >> here's the question i have. when you're in the board room talking about an inversion, somebody ha
