i'm rob nesbitt kron. 4 news 2 schools are closing in vallejo by the end of the school year and another will be relocated. >> the school district voted last night to close mare island, health and fitness academy and loma vista, environmental science academy, the charter school that will be relocated to the mare island campus and the district will make nearly 13 million dollars in budget cuts and layoffs. staff. the decision was part of the board's effort to address 36 million dollar budget deficit over the next couple of years. it is traumatic. no one wants their child to have to go to this. we know we have to put a lot of things in place to continue to serve, hold our families and support them. >> through that through this transition in the end, it's their baby right? it's their child who gets dropped off at a school and they want to make sure that their child feel safe at school is going to be well taken care of and educated. and that's alternate goal. >> the superintendent says the district staff is reaching out to families affected to help them with the transition to a new school co

kron four's rob nesbitt reports on how much money is set to be cup. cities make tough decisions when it comes to budget cuts. and protesters gathered today in oakland to protest 2.6 million dollars in cuts scheduled for this year. no no more than a dozen organizations took part in this protest tuesday morning at the fruitvale transit village calling on oakland city leaders to stop millions of dollars in cuts. one organization that stand to be affected is meals on wheels. basically the city has is still continuing to bomb the but not the meals. kim olson is the director of advocacy for meals on wheels. oakland, she says cuts in funding will prevent meals from being delivered to 1400 oakland seniors. we want the city to make our clients a priority in violent funding for these for essential services. >> we can't be short-sighted making. the smoke has now. then we need to proceedings and benefits for the rest of things those gathered tuesday say the cuts hurt the unhoused seniors, immigrants, young people and violence prevention carlos soto was a violence
