that man that killed bin laden, fox news contributor and former navy s.e.a.l., rob o'neill.an you start to put together what went wrong? >> well, brian, thanks for having me. what i'm seeing here is if -- they're engaged in heavy combat on the ground right there and some special operations helicopters came in to assist with some u.s.-led afghan forces on the ground. they're taking mortar fire. they're saying one of the helicopters was hit, potentially nearby with mortar fire. that's heavy fighting which is true in marjah for the past six months. if they're coming in that close to try to rescue a dead american soldier, and they hit rotor on the side of a building, they're in intense combat regardless of what we want to call it, saying combat operations have been over since 2014. this is an intense fight. it's actually rare to fight this heavily in winter in afghanistan. so that's just saying the taliban is making a move new because they know that we're going to be backing out. >> i mean, while, that's fascinating. also we hear there are reports that isis is coming in, too, an

>> rob owe -- o'neil the u.s. navy seal who shot and killed usama bin laden joins us.vening, sir. >> thanks for having me. >> do you get as annoyed as i do when the the white house on these important issues playing us this isn't combat and we just lost one person? is this combat to you? >> yeah, this is totally combat. if we have got casualty evacuation helicopters coming in to assist american troops on the ground who are fighting alongside our afghan allies and they take mortar fire. mortar is not something that just pops out. it's there they have been in combat near helmand province past six months. they feel abandoned by the u.s. backed government in kabul simply because we want to say we are not in combat anymore and call it what it is. it is combat now and there be for a long time. every commander on the ground is saying we need to keep as many troops as we can for as long as we can. this is no longer a campaign promise that needs to be ended just because we said we would. we need tobÃkeep our guys there and get it stable or it will go back the way it was before 9

let's bring in the man who killed usama bin laden, he's rob o'neill and he joins us live this morningare you saying that america's troops feel abandoned in afghanistan? >> i'm not saying that the american troops feel abandoned, i'm saying with part of the pullout of american and nato troops from parts of the region like hellman province where this is going on, aur after fan partners feel abandoned by the u.s.-backed government in kabul. what's going on now, as we said that combat is over, tell that to the family of this brave special operations soldier that was killed. regardless what you call it, if we have helicopter going down on rescue attempts to get friendlies killed in action and wounded in action, that's combat on the ground. i'm not saying they were abandoned. i would never say they're trapped as long as we have the air support and good guys on the ground, we're not trapped, but there's combat going on in southern afghanistan. stuart: is it intense in an important area? >> the fighting has been going on six months. this operation right there, they were trying to clear a road
