citizen, 19-year-old robel philipos. he allegedly made false statements to authorities. if you read the criminal complaint that is -- the affidavit attached to the criminal complaint, it lays out exactly what these suspects are accused of having done. here is a portion of it. according to kadyrbayev, they decided to throw it into the trash because they did not want tsarnaev to get into trouble. he placed them along with the trash gathered from the apartment into a large black bag ask threw is in a dumpster near the apartment where they lived. you might recall that the f.b.i. was searching a landfill in new bedford, massachusetts. apparently that's where they did find the backpack containing the fireworks. as for what they're facing, the kazakhstan students are here on student visas. they've been arrested for being in violation of those levee is as, face up to five years behind bars for destroying or concealing evidence. and as for the american citizen here, for lying to authorities, he faces as much as eight years behind bars if he is convicted. we are told the two citiz

here is a little more for you on robel philipos.ld was a student at the university of massachusetts dartmouth, but not actively enrolled at the time of his arrest. he is a u.s. citizen, born in boston and raised in cambridge. earlier we were told he was a naturalized citizen. apparently he was born here. he lives with his mother, who is from ethiopia. their cambridge apartment is right next to the gas station where the tsarnaev brothers allegedly carjacked a vehicle. he's also a 2011 graduate of the same prep school that dzhokhar tsarnaev attended and as david lee mentioned, if he's convicted of lying to the feds here action he face has maximum sentence of eight years and a $250,000 fine. these are serious charges. his lawyers are right, there was no lawyer present when the f.b.i. showed up to question him. but that apparently did not stop him from lying, not once, not twice, not three times, but apparently on the fourth time he got it right, say the feds. we'll see how this shakes out momentarily inside that courtroom. >>> back to

so along with american citizen robel philipos, they decided to take a backpack from dzhokhar's room fulld just get them off campus as soon as possible. they dumped them the next day. now, dzhokhar allegedly said one month before marathon monday that he knew how to make a bomb. so the three allegedly did the math and admittedly say that they did their best to keep their friend out of trouble. but one of these alleged accomplices wasn't even supposed to be here in the u.s. from kazakhstan, his name is azamat tazhayakov. he left school on january 4, which should have invalidated his student visa. butanely customs agents never got the word and allowed him to enter, reenter the united states 2 1/2 weeks later on january 20. so right now there are a lot of questions about why customs agents never got word about this invalidated student visa. furthermore, it is important to point out that these three men are all being charged with very serious crimes. two are from kazakhstan. one is a united states citizen. but they are not being accused of helping plan these attacks and despite these arrests m
