ktvu's robert handa joins us now, he's live with reaction and the new sketch. >> reporter: we are here in the santa cruz mountains where there are a lot of popular hiking trails and where officials are warning hikers to keep an eye out for more than just nature. there was a steady stream of visitors at castle rock state park today even though officials posted warnings and released a composite sketch of a man suspected of threatening two women hikers at gunpoint last thursday demanding sex. officials say the man grabbed the women, but they escaped by slipping off their backpacked and running away. >> i was very scared, i didn't know that they had weapons out here. >> it made me more aware of my surroundings, just to be on the look out for that type of person. >> reporter: authorities describe the man as latino,

live in san jose, robert handa. ktvu channel 2 news. >>> ac transit said it had to cancel more buses today after 120 drivers called sick this morning. drivers are angry over a contract change in work rules. the sick out has been ongoing for two weeks. an alameda judge tomorrow can decide whether or not to overturn the contract. ac transit threatened to cut all weekend bus service if the contract is overturned. >>> bay area bridge managers say boosting tolls and doing away with free car pools has had an immediate change on driving habits. since the increases went into effect, almost 10,000 fewer cars each day are using the seven state owned bridges in the nine bay area counties. about 12,000 fewer cars are using car pool lanes. and bart ridership is up about 4,500 passengers a day. the way to cross the bay bridge in the morning has dropped significantly. >> it was about a 20 minute delay coming through berkeley, across the bay bridge last year. now it's about 12 minutes. >> transit officials say the real test of how

robert handa has been covering the story all day long. he's here with the latest information. robert? >> reporter: well, frank we're up here in a remote location in alameda county. near the border of santa clara county. if you follow this road which is the road close to mines road, you will get to the rocky ridge area, where the officer- involved shooting took place. the santa clara county sheriff's department has set up a command post office up the road. investigators say this morning a sheriff's department marijuana eradication team along with some alameda county deputies approached a pot growing operation on the santa clara county side. and a man, apparently armed, suddenly appeared. >> our dispatch received a call from one of our deputies indicating that shots were fired during the operation and the suspect was dead at the scene. >> reporter: a view from newschopper2 shows a rugged terrain around the marijuana patch which officers say is typical since the heavy brush is used to hide the operation. they say today's incident is similar to the last time santa clara county depu

ktvu's robert handa is live now at that apartment complex with the very latest on this story for us, robert. >> reporter: healther, there are still a lot of questions remaining about this stabbing and shooting incident that took place at this san jose apartment complex last night including the motive. but many residents call the suspect a walking time bomb and some neighbors say they saw him go off. >> i saw a man stab a lady, then turn and shoot another lady. >> reporter: residents at the apartment complex say the man accused in the stabbing and fatal shooting last night is bobby turner. neighbors say turner was arguing outside with a woman who they knew as his girlfriend. then he went inside and got a knife. >> she said what, are you going to stab me now, and then i heard her scream. >> reporter: after the stabbing, turner turned a gun at a woman and her husband that before at the door. >> i saw bobby standing there and he shoots. >> reporter: the woman 48-year- old lisa larn was shot. >> he held a knife, a bloody knife up and said, you need to give this to the police, it's the murd

ktvu's robert handa is live in san jose with more for us, robert. >> reporter: san jose police plan to increase their presence among many public parks. police are investigating a rash of gang related violence. the crack of a bat at the great oaks park in san jose is a typical sound during summertime. but police say baseball bats as well as bottles, rocks and knives were some of the weapons used during an apparent clash between two gangs on tuesday. >> we see lots of groups of teenagers. they go in groups. >> reporter: do they seem threatening? >> sometimes. they'll ask you for money. maybe throw a rock or two if you ignore them. >> reporter: the fights come after two men were stabbed yelling their gang affiliation. >> our concern is will there be retaliation. >> reporter: police say these incidents are similar to other attacks including a high profile case when 12-year-old trick or treaters were assaulted by teenage gang members on halloween night last year. >> this follows a pattern in san jose these two recent cases where we have younger kids getting involved in stabbings. we're tryi

robert handa has more from the scene. robert? >> reporter: well, heather we're way up here in the foothills in alameda county. if you call this road near mines road. you will see a portion of the hills known as rocky ridge, the general area where the incident took place. now, to give you a view from newschopper2, you can see this is a very dense rugged portion of the foothills. the santa clara county sheriff's marijuana eradication team came up here this morning along with deputies from alameda county. they suspected a marijuana operation. they came upon someone from the patch who they believe was armed. although the investigators are not releasing any details. deputies report shooting and killing the suspect. >> it's gonna take a a little while for our -- take a little while for our personal to be able to hike in there, number one, and not to mention all of the equipment, so this can collect the evidence and claim the body. >> reporter: there are no reports of injuries or suspects. a command post has been set up on this turnout
