ktvu's robert handa is there live with what's happening right now. good afternoon, robert. >> reporter: good afternoon, tori. there is still a lot of activity going on in the sunnyvale neighborhood where the officer-involved shooting took place this morning. you can see officers from the sunnyvale department of public safety where an arrest warrant and is search warrant were being served on a homicide suspect. a unit made up of officers, investigators and members of the swat team came to the home at fair oaks and maude avenues around 9:00 a.m. police say officers knocked on the door, made verbal contact with the person inside. the situation came hectic and violent when the suspect brandished a gun. >> the person ignored orders and displayed a weapon. subsequent to that, officers were involved in a shooting and the subject was shot and taken to valley medical center where he succumbed to his injuries and died. >> it's kind of scary. you never know who is living next door. it could be a regular die or a murder suspect. apparently this went bad fast. >>
