robert on the line from henderson, nevada, you have experience with gangs, what is it? caller: i am calling from henderson, kentucky. host: my fault. caller: i am a former los angeles gang member, an original member of the crips, 55 years old, and original member and in 1984 we came up with a program with anheuser-busch and los angeles when the olympics game, the year i moved to kentucky. we had a group of former gang members and gang members who went and cleaned up graffiti, cleaned up neighborhoods, the summer youth program was a big avenue for many of us. it rescued a lot of us. if we were to bring back something for these kids to do, you have me and other people willing to share our experiences , if the resources are there. i do not wait, i volunteer, i have made my own problem in that program in -- program in kentucky and the city of los angeles worked with us in back then and in my own town, i have a consortium of volunteers. there are no funds to help. that is something we could do, work with police, work with parents who come to me and bring their children to me
