thing that upset me about that and i was at smu at the time, but the third -- two options, keep robert e. lee, go to russell lee or the third option was to name the school after the first african-american woman teacher, african-american teacher, period, who actually was still alive, she's 84, and taught all three of my daughters in second grade. and i thought that was the obvious choice, right? but they wanted to cling to lee. they wanted the name. they couldn't give up the name for this living african-american woman who had spent 35 or 40 years teaching at that school and retired. and i'll just say very quickly, the same thing happened with stone well jackson school this year in dallas, just up the street from smu. they did the same thing. they had these community meetings. they yelled and screamed at each other. the teachers wanted to keep jackson, right, because it was a high-performing school and they liked saying they taught at jackson. and so the parents, a lot of them are facility at smu and others, they rebelled and were able to get the dallas independent school district to rename the
