. -- in memory of robert pender. he was a tenant at parkmerced for 40-plus years, a tremendous advocate for the community throughout san francisco. in fact, the majority of his advocacy was probably for tenants outside of parkmerced. in no way to that comment be meant to take away from his advocacy work for his friends and neighbors and residents of parkmerced, whom he was 100% committed to, but robert was truly a great man. no question over the last 12 years working with the residents of district 7, robert and i came across each other quite a bit. many times on opposite sides, but on the rare occasion on the same side, but the thing with robert that i always appreciated -- it did not matter if we disagreed. we always be engaged with the next issue. he was absolutely one of those rare people who have the ability to disagree while still being agreeable. he was a true gentleman. a former city employee as well. he worked for the municipal railway. that was his career. he worked for me -- muni throughout his career and g

eric swanson and robert pender. the late mr. freddy roberto. president chiu: is there any more business in front of this board? at this time, we are adjourned. i'm the president of friends of mclaren park. it is one of the oldest neighborhood community park groups in san francisco. i give a lot of tours through the park. during those tours, a lot of the folks in the group will think of the park as very scary. it has a lot of hills, there's a lot of dense groves. once you get towards the center of the park you really lose your orientation. you are very much in a remote area. there are a lot of trees that shield your view from the urban setting. you would simply see different groves that gives you a sense of freedom, of being outdoors, not being burdened by the worries of city life. john mclaren had said that golden gate park was too far away. he proposed that we have a park in the south end of the city. the campaign slogan was, people need this open space. one of the things that had to open is there were a lot of people who did a homestead here,
