robert ray, al jazeera, new orleans. >> i'm meteorologist dave warren. more severe weather that popped up in the last 24 hours. all these damage reports coming in from the storm prediction center. wind and hail and eventually some flood reports here across the southern plains. more heavy rain will lead to more flooding but want to focus on these tornado reports coming in, actually video that came out of colorado, spinning, there is a tornado, couple of confirmed reports. national weather service goes out and sees how strong those storms were. fortunately things are all clear now. radar is now with that severe weather going through east texas and parts of louisiana and arkansas. more heavy rain over areas that can't hold it. number of inches of rain have already come down. the ground is saturated on top of that. add another three to five inches with this storm sitting over western kansas, that leads to flash flooding. flash flood warning is in effect. few warnings in effect along with the leaf rain there is some wind and hail, conditions continue to push

al jazerra's robert ray is? in new orleans at the museum. ow is the museum marking this day? >> reporter: a lot of events here today, stephanie. started at 6:30 this morning. another vent that's just getting on right now, perhaps you can see the people coming out. there is memorials and about 5,000 people expected today come through the world war ii museum in new orleans, i ann am joined by one of the lead historians keith. what is the reason why this museum is in new orleans? >> it's an interesting story. the late historian steven ambrose taught at the university of new orleans in the mid '60s he did an interview with general eisenhower when he noticed that he was from new orleans asked him did you ever meet andrew higgins, he said no. and eisenhower said, well, that's a shame because he's the man that won the war for us ambrose about fell out of his chair, but eisenhower went onto explain that he built the famous higgins boats. the boats that had a flatter bottom that you could run up onto a beach and unload men, supplies, tanks, you have i

robert ray, al jazeera, atlanta. >> so listen to this. an emotion experiment, what is that, conducted by facebook and several universities are sparking outrage on social media. what is it, emotion experiment? what is facebook doing now? >> i'll tell you tony, more than half a million users which are part of this -- were part of this. but didn't know it. expressed more upbeat emotions. those that saw more negative posts expressed more negativity. now the study's results were published this month and some people are bashing the community. let's call it what it is, a symptom of a much wider issue of opinions on platforms. i spoke to one law professor who says the company should have gotten users' consent for this, take too look. >> the policy says they can do all kinds of things with their data. it says very little about how they will manipulate you. so it's one thing to expect that facebook will take what you do on the site, show you ads. it is another to think that they will tailor your news need experience to see if they can make you sad.

aljazeera's robert ray joins us from new orleans, he's at the national world war ii museum there, and robert, what's happening today? >> a lot of things happening at the museum. a museum that many don't know is here. it's a sprawling campus, opened 14 years ago, and i'm joined by two important guests, one of the historians, one of these gentlemen, he flew above the beaches of normandy on d-day. and you were 19 years old and what was that like? >> well, it was cloudy, and we didn't have much interference that day. it was one of our lightest missions. >> you did what, 30 missions, you were telling me earlier, but what was it like the day of the storming of the beach? over 6,000 americans passed your soldiers, you guys perhaps changed the world that day, emotionally 70 years ago today, what is it like for you? >>> i feel great. i feel glad that i did it. we had to do it. i was drafted at 18 years old. and i just did what we had to do. >> you flew from england. you were with the allied forces, and you guys won that day. >> yes, i was in the 91st bomb group, out of cambridge, england. -- >
