here's the weather forecast with robert speta. robert? >> we do have tropical storm here. just north of the philippines. most of that convection is over the northern portions of luzon. it's been bringing heavy rainfall. about 100 millimeters recorded in the past 24 hours in some locations here. good news it is starting to taper off as the storm continues to rush off towards the northwest. look at that. moving forward at about 25 kilometers per hour. eventually, though, going into saturday, especially into the afternoon hours, you could be seeing this making landfall just fords the south of hong kong. this entire area has been under some hot heat as well. so this may come as some relief cooling down the atmosphere. still, you'll be accompanied by some gusty winds and heavy rain showers. and also down towards the central and southern portions of the philippines. rain in place bringing the risk of flooding and landslides. farther off towards the north, that rainy season stationary boundary we've been talking about for quite some time is continuing to affect portions of centra

robert speta has more on that. we have tropical storm to the east pushing towards the northwest expecting to clip the coast right around thursday afternoon. currently winds at the center of circulation are at about 65 km per hour up to about 5 feet. high waves could be seen here. you have the risk of storm surge pushing on shore. the heavy rainfall, the southwest monsoon will be across the south china sea here bringing rainfall risks and flooding and land slides as the moisture continues to pump on shore not to mention the fact we could be seeing high waves here. for the rainfall totals looking at up to about 150 mm across northern portions. plus down towards the south talking about the southwest monsoon moving on shore here. you could be seeing 100 mm plus. up towards the north you are also seeing some very heavy rainfall. 500 plus mm of rain has been reported here since last friday. unfortunately in the last 24 hours you have seen about 89 mm per hour in a similar location on top of already saturated grounds. thi

robert speta has more. robert? >> you can cross much of southern and western japan. heavy rainfall all associated with this rny season stationary boundary has been continuing to occur here. the max total for today in kagoshima was up to 305 millimeters of rain here. it's all due to that boundary. also a new low pressure area will start to develop off of this and, unfortunately, in addition to 150 millimeters could be seeing in the next 24 hours. plus some thunderstorm activity developing off of this could be producing about 50 millimeters in just a one-hour period. so short time heavy rain here. also all this boundary extending out towards the west. going to be bringing some heavy rainfall there in central and eastern china. now down towards the south, though, look at this area. this is our newly formed tropical depression. it's currently moving off towards the west, and it's expected to become a tropical storm within the next 24 hours before it affects the philippines possibly by midweek bringing widespread heavy rain showers. thunderstorm activity and the risk of l

robert speta with the forecast for here and elsewhere. >> yes, not only japan is feeling the effects of this rainy season. over towards taiwan, a copious amount of rainfall has fallen in the past 24 hours. actually in taiwan upwards of 656 millimeters fell here in just one location. and numerous locations recorded over 500 millimeters. what this is bringing is obvious. the high risk of flash flooding across much of taiwan and southeastern china where the rain is also falling. but also landslides and mud slides on steeper elevations where that ground is really s satura saturated. a very dangerous area coming out. we'll keep you posted on it. farther towards the north, the imani region, you could be seeing upwards of 120 millimeters and over towards the konto region as that frontal area starts to lift off. toward the south, though in the philippines and over towards indochin awidespread rain showers will be continuing to expect here. also gusty winds bringing up the seas. but not only here. look over here towards the tropics just southeast of guam. does look like they are starting to f

robert speta has the latest on a tropical storm nearing the philippines. robert? >> the tropical storm marwa is what we're watching here in the philippines sea now, moving off towards the north and already flooding and landslide warnings have been issued here across the eastern portions of luzon, extending down toward versailles and some of the steeper elevations. this is where you're highest at risk for mud slides and landslides and the outer rain bands come on shore. as of now it looks like the forecast track is keeping this storm just off shore before it starts to move off towards the northeast. staying away from the southern japanese islands, but still okinawa is within the cone of air and if you do miss the center of circulation, a lot of the outer rain bands could be affecting, bringing that thunderstorm activity, the high winds, and also heavy surf accompanied by rip currents even off towards the east coast of mainland japan, going into next week. so definitely will continue to watch this. what is causing this churning of the storm off towards the northeast
