robert speta has the details, robert? >> we have been watching very rough and severe weather indeed. really in the last several days, there's been reports of deadly tornadoes coming up. i want to start by showing you footage of arounds here in is in kansas on saturday, sunday at sunset. and it really hit a sparsely populated area. this one on the other hand was part of several tornados in oklahoma. it was a .8 kilometer wide. you can seal magnitude of the damage. and that did cause a death. now there is still a risk caused on monday. it is just the battle zones setting up. you have dry air in western texas creating fire weather for you, and cooler air. where all three of these are meeting right now is right here and that's bringing the risk of not only tornadoes but also baseball sized hail. we could see straight lined winds ahead of some of these. so you're still seeing the risk out there towards the great lakes with some form of severe weather. even people not traveling. there is a flash flood mobile there into the dako

meteorologist robert speta is here with more on that. robert? >> owe, we're kochbting to watch a stational -- even in southwestern china, that front is remaining in place. a few hours back we showed you that video of the severe flooding. now this front will be continuing to drop this rainfall after continuous days of rain. in portions here, you could see 100 to 150 millimeters in the next 72 hours. there's good news here. by saturday into sunday, this front will start to set a little farther down here toward the south bringing some relief. it's still hot and muggy, definitely cloudy in the sky here, but the rain will start to let up. not so much the case in taiwan. attached to this another front broke off. you're going to be seeing these rain showers by friday morning into saturday for tokyo. here in tokyo, temperatures really warmed up today. on thursday, just outside of tokyo, upwards of about 26 degrees was recorded today. that's record breaking for the month of may. if you're down here toward the south and the philippines, but up here, defin

robert speta has the details on that. >> it was a gorgeous day across much of japan if you like the sunnynd clear skies out here. it looks like it will remain in place through the remainder of saturday. korea will start to see cloud cover push overhead, but what we are seeing is widespread rain showers and it's farther to the west. you could still see about 100 millimeters of rain. upwards of about 250 millimeters expected by your sunday evening as this low does continue to push overhead. especially down towards southeastern china. by next week it will impact you to korea and across most of japan here as it pushes off toward the east. saturday and sunday into tokyo, you will see partly cloudy skies. there is the risk of an afternoon thunderstorm. tropics still afternoon thunderstorms for you as well. let's take a look towards europe though and really, the topic here is just messy across the most of europe. we have several low pressure areas that are continuing to rotate here along the western peripheral. you have a blocking high, and it's just keeping all of this foul weather out here. in

this time with meteorologist robert speta. >> we are continuing to watch the severe weather event still going on and outbreaking here across much of the central u.s. i want to take a look back here because rain now, we still have this cloud cover forming under oklahoma city. let's take a look at the radar image from earlier in the day. and you can really see it here, on the imagery. this is at 15:06 p.m. you have that wrapping around effect. it shows the sigh colonic circulation is pulling in and the updraft and moisture and mail wrapping around, and this is also debris amist this cloud here. now the stlaet not so much here any more. it's shifting to the east, thankfully. we're going to keep seeing this tornado threat, but farther down here toward the east. we have cool air to the north, about a 20 degree difference between these two air masses. and this is where they're clashing, right here. golf ball-sized hail. and flash flood watches and warnings around the river. so this is adding to that as this storm develops, pushes here, and into wednesday, severe weather risks across much of t

. >>> the rainy season is here for southern china, robert speta is here with the details. >> it is, acrossh of southern japan here, we saw about 200 millimeters of rainfall. it will start to clear up down here by the weekend as this pressure pushes off to the east, but it is the rainy season and it's not staying quiet for long. southeastern china, you're getting a little break. there was several landslides reported there in hong kong. on friday you can expect up to 50 to 100 millimeters of rainfall. saturday it will be upwards of 200 millimeters expected. that's when you'll start to see precipitation going into sunday. another round of weather and off towards japan by early next week, this system will push in. for now, the weekend looking like rather decent weather across much of korea and extending here towards japan. temperatures here in tokyo, 26, and rain showers. hong kong you're getting a break from the bulk of the activity. let's look at america. the big topic here is the continuation of the severe weather. we have that low pressure pushing off toward the northeast, yesterday. it is

robert speta has the details. >> we're seeing this rough weather across central japan.e see in the satellite picture here, the storms start to blue up there the afternoon hours here. the storms blow through, and you saw a car overturn and a few buildings blown down early in the afternoon. a very isolated storm but it does cause some damage. the rest of japan seeing these winds today. up to 80 kilometer per hour winds. and sunnier skies as well. don't expect much rainfall across japan. so really it's going to be warmup, sunny skies currently here in south earn china, not so much the case. we have an elongated low pressure area. in the last 24 hours, you saw up to 150 millimeters recorded here, and you could see it here in the next 72. it is rainfall falling on top of more rain, and there is just a risk of widespread flooding. even around hong kong you could see a possible thunderstorm pop up here once you get through the peak of the daytime heating. seeing the rain showered in chongeing. we have an upper level low spinning just off the coast of california now. this is br

robert speta is joining us with the forecast. >>> much of japan saw the widespread rain showers today. it brought gusty winds ahead in eastern portions of okiado. high pressure is coming in and bringing in much fairer weather. temperatures in the high 20s as we two through the day here on friday. really warming up. not all of japan is sharing in on this. as we look to the west, it looks like showers will be continuing to linger throughout the day here. we continue to linger here over there towards the west, southeastern, china. it looks like a lot of showers continuing to fall. a few areas could be seeing up to about 150 millimeters. so really a risk of flooding we have been seeing out here. as far as temperatures, that rainy season is keeping the clouds in the sky. if you look just toward the north, beijing, hong kong as well. hot and muggy for you. sunny skies overhead, but don't be surprised due to that heat throughout the day if we do get a pop up thunderstorm or so. let's look over toward the americas. thunderstorms. we just have that low pressure continuing to linger over the ce

. >>> meteorologist robert speta joins us now with the world weather forecast. robert, the rainy season has arrived in tokyo. >> let's first start off with what's going on here in japan across much of the country of japan. we've seen the showers push overhead here on your wednesday but it does look like going into thursday a new frontal area will push in from the west and ahead of it, some very gusty winds. already on wednesday we've seen some winds really pushing up there. in northern hokkaido, some recorded around 100 kilometers per hour. as this next front comes in it is going to just make things worse. widespread showers across most of the region. upwards of 50 millimeters on your wednesday. some storms could come out of this, even a few rumbles of thunder and a few of them could become severe especially going through thursday evening. gathering moisture out of the pacific ocean and really combining with the afternoon to evening heating out here. it is really going to be pushing it up here. let's push that off towards the east. back towards the west we have t

meteorologist robert speta is here with more. robe robert. >> we'll watch the rough weather through wednesday but thankfully behind it we're seeing some fair weather. that's good news in these trpd hit areas in oklahoma because that's going to help out with the recovery efforts once you see those blue skies. we'll see that in images throughout the day, blue skies at least in the forecast. now the rough weather a little bit farther here towards the east. this will start to taper off. cold front that's been pushing through eventually shifting off towards the northeast. all that severe weather is going to be moving into the ohio river valley. we are talking about western new york, western pennsylvania, not so much the tornado threat on the other hand though. warm air coming in from the gulf of mexico has a lot more room to travel and modify. that means less of a collision of air masses but it is still there. we're still going to be seeing the risk of hail and definitely some of these damaging winds, straight line winds and some of th

robert speta has more. >> yes, we're really seeing rain showers push across much of japan. in tokyo today we saw temperatures rietz up to 30 degrees. to the north, mountains and sunny skies out here. it is going to be cooling off. these rain showers pushing in overhead. high pressure is going to be pushing in from the west. there is a quick cool down, but it will not last long. next week, temperatures are rebounding by next week. you have to take the good with the bad. in north eastern china, very dry and warm as well. you're still looking at 30 to 35 degrees. but also we're still continuing to watch that stationary front we have been talking about. in the past seven days, you see this widespread precipitation here. over 50 to 100 millimeters across southeastern china. the past day alone has seen up to 300 millimeters of rain. bangladesh into eastern india, monsoon flow has been hitting them hard. and a severe risk of flooding. the worst in the situation we're eyeing on a low-pressure area here that very well possibly can push off towards the north, develop into a sicyclone

meteorologist robert speta is here with more on that. robert. >> we are continuing to see these sunny skies across most of japan here. going into thursday, and even friday, it does look like the high pressure that's producing it is going to continue to linger overled. we're seeing these strong southerly winds. that's going to also bring these temperatures up actually into tokyo, by friday expect temperatures to go into the high 20s. but by friday morning, that's when things are slowly going to change. eastern japan will still see sunny skies throughout most of the day but towards the west a low pressure area is coming in. south korea will start to see rain showers, then into kyushu early friday morning, pushing eventually off to the east. most of japan saturday will see some showers coming from the west. down into southeastern china we have been talking about all week this persistent stationary boundary which has been lingering. in the past 24 hours alone here on your wednesday, in one portion of guangdong province you've seen upwards 260

. >>> let's now bring in robert speta for a check of the weather. robert, it's the rainy season for southern china, and i understand they're seeing pretty nasty weather right now. >> oh, yes, shery. it really has been taking place here over the past several weeks. and it's that time of year into late may, early june that we often do see this rainy season front setting up here in southern china, even extending through southern japan. and more often than not, there are these areas of flooding. here today into okinawa actually upwards of about 150 millimeters of rainfall was reported here, starting to see the pooling up of water across the islands. behind it, there in southeastern china, over the past week, you have just been getting pounded by heavy rain. macaw on wednesday, up to seven centimeters fell throughout the day into hong kong. 15 reports of landslides occurred there. and also the hong kong observe story, the weather office there, issued the highest warning level in three years, up to black warning level there. definitely you do not need any

. >> let's now bring in robert speta for a check of the weather. robert, it's a beautiful friday here in japan. will conditions stay like this over the weekend? >> well, shery, it does look like thankfully most of the weekend across japan, that is, fair weather will be overhead. temperatures throughout the 20s here. it will cool off in tokyo down to about 20 on saturday. it's going to rebound going into sunday as this high pressure continues to dominate. not just japan. the korean peninsula as well. much of central and eastern china, on the other hand, you're not going to be sharing in on this. right now southeastern china's getting a break from the action. you can see that cloud cover coming out of the west. that is the next low-pressure area that first will affect chongqing on friday. then it's going to push off towards the northeast and bring about 250 millimeters of rainfall as well over towards shanghai. much of central and north eastern china. so this is going to be bringing the risk of flooding and even landslides as it continues to push over
