i'm thomas roberts. it is monday, august 18th.elcome to "way too early," the show also on a mission for the undercaffeinated and the news hungry. right down to it. we have a lot of news to cover this monday morning. we begin in ferguson where violence returned to the streets more than a week after an unarmed plaque teen shot to death by an officer and just hours ago democratic governor jay nixon ordered the national guard to the city to, quote, help restore peace and order. for the second night in a row a curfew was in place and police and demonstrators were involved in some very heated clashes on the streets there. hours before the curfew went into effect police fired tear gas at hundreds of protesters. ron johnson says the protests spiraled out of control and police had no other choice. >> molotov cocktails were thrown. there were shootings, looting, vandalism and other acts of violence that clearly appear not to have been spontaneous, but premeditated criminal acts designed to damage property, hurt people and provoke a response
