he is the author of -- and a book called radio free, robert of williams and the roots of black power. tim also served on an executive board of the north carolina naacp. tim can tell you more about, way more about this book than i can. i just want to say that he does a marvelous job of putting emmett till murder and lynching into a context of american history. tim's earlier book is about a similar incident that happened 15 years later in oxford north carolina. about 25 miles from here. and i learned just a few years ago about another similar incident that happened three blocks from here. at the intersection of carr boulevard and ninth street. where a black, during the war in 1944, a black soldier in uniform would not, he was from philadelphia. it would not move to the back of the bus. and when he got off the bus, the bus driver got off and shot and killed him. and as is usual in these cases, an all-white jury found the people that clearly committed these crimes not guilty. there is quite a very sad condition there. one last thing i want to say, and working on publicity for this book, i
