. >> martha: okay, let's bring in clay travis and robert wolf. gentlemen, thank you very much.ion will investigate maine's department of education and a school district over policies allowing transgender students to participate in athletics and title ix investigation which bars gender-based discrimination in schools. your thoughts as an attorney and some who follows exports and this story, very closely. >> well, first of all, this is brilliant of trump because let's just go to the actual data here, martha. either new york times last month, 79% of americans do not believe that man identifying as women should be able to compete in women's exports. that is a big number. it is hard to get the 79% of americans to agree on anything. but it is even better for trump. 60% of democrats agreed with him as you see him signing this bill 94% of republicans, two out of three democrats, he only lost maine by seven points, martha. this governor is on the wrong side politically. she is wasting taxpayer dollars to fight against trump on an issue that her stay overwhelmingly agrees with trump on.

let's bring in robert wolf, fox news contributor and former economic advisor to president obama, and steve moore, the heritage foundation and senior fellow, economic advisor to president trump. i will start with you first on this. while most of us who have studied history, and obviously canonic history, we know how difficult it is to bring prices down once they go up. we can slow a -- inflation, but bringing those prices down is difficult. has the administration done enough to manage expectations and make sure of the american public knows that the target is inflation, to slow inflation right now? >> the problem for trump is that, in the last few months that biden was president, we saw inflation rising again. i think this next report we get out later this week is going to show a significant bump in prices. trump wasn't even in office when that happened, so it will take, i think, about 3 to 6 months to start seeing the effect of trump's policies on inflation. the main influence that i think trump will put in terms of downward prices is for drilling more oil, cutting people's taxes, der

with spring in this foundation senior fellow steve mauro and robert wolf. i hate to get a back a back and forth -- and whether the government will shut down. we talked about this last week. it seems like we are there again, but how do you ask point democrats so against the concept of looking or we can cut wasteful, unnecessary spending? what is the problem with that? >> i don't think they are against cutting wasteful spending. i think we should look at the way bill clinton did it in 1993. working with republicans, working with congress in a very methodical way. if you look at back then, they cut hundreds of thousands of federal work jobs. they could over $100 billion in federal work spending. that's the way to do it. a methodical way. i don't have an issue with doge, but they have to work in a methodical way with congress and the white house, a very transparent way. it's interesting that steve, my buddy who was a fiscal conservative -- 25% of all debt in the history of the republic, under the trump administration. the idea that they want to be fiscally resp

and robert wolf, ceo of 32 advisers. kimberley, let me start with you.atement and what about the reaction to it? >> well, i wasn't really shocked and i think one way to look at this as a donald trump negotiation tactic. if you look what he is doing on foreign policy, he is a businessman. he makes big threats. big challenges, so you see what he saw with the tariffs then he you get canada and mexico more at the border. panama, backing away from china. offerings to work more with us. maybe this was thrown out there not necessarily because donald trump wants to run gaza but because he clearly wants to see a different way of thinking among regional players about how to deal with the palestinian problem. the status quo isn't working. so, i think this bears watching to see what comes afterwards and if the asks are in fact coming maybe the players then look at it and think well that's not as bad as having the united states running gaza. >> bret: right. and matthew, the white house walked back saying there is no specific commitment to u.s. troops on the ground in
