roberta gonzalez is with mobile weather. mount diablo, you were just reclint surrounded by a lot of light reasons right? >> reporter: exactly, paul. just a second. i have to have my photographer down here. it all sounded like a good idea earlier today when a park ranger from mount diablo sent me several photographs of the snow that accumulated at 3,848 feet right here in the east bay. so we decided to come on out and be in the storm and be in the snow as well and be in the thick of the action. sure enough, we are. now, we can't get to the very top of the mountain because it is closed due to the slippery road. it is snowing there right now. we are at 3,000 feet. we have a combination of rain. a lot of wind. we also have some pea-sized hail at this particular time. air temperature happens to be around up ther 30s. now, at this time we do not have a winter storm advisory in effect for this particular mountain or the mount diablo mountain range or the east bay. however, we do have a winter weather advisory in effect the santa cr

it's a real problem. >> srennivasan: roberta johnson you speak to some of these parents sometimes. there hidden costs that they are not calculating in? >> we try to let our families know most of the costs. but certainly we cannot control what their students are going to be spending on personal expenditures. so as claudio mentioned tuition fees, room and board are costs it that we include in what is called the total cost of attendance. we also try to estimate what books are going to cost for the student. but that will vary depending upon the kuric lar area in which the student is enrolled. most colleges and universities will also have a suggested personal category for students. and we try to keep that quite reasonable. my institution we actually surveyed students and we really call late-- recalibrated a couple of years ago to lower that to approximately $2500 for a nine month period of enrollment. certainly we do have students that spend more than $2500 over that period of time. but many times we will find students that do live very frugally and are able to survive on far less. >> s
