but instead, 63 degrees. >>> thanks, roberta. business now.owth slowed in the last three months of last year. >> here now is kcbs radio's financial reporter jason brooks. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. the economy certainly cooled off in the 4th quarter. commerce department reporting gdp growth of 2.6%. that compared to a rate of 5% in the 3rd quarter. 4.6% in the 2nd quarter. consumers certainly did their part. consumer spending was up 4.3% the strongest gain in over eight years compared to 3.2% growth in the prior quarter. we saw weaker growth in spending from business investment, trade and government spending. getting some key earnings in again. google reported that its revenue rose about 17% from a year earlier to $14.5 billion. and chevron saw its revenue fall by almost 18% to $46 billion on plunging oil prices. let's see how big board is doing. we had some big gains yesterday today starting off flat, the dow down 17. nasdaq up 14. s&p down 5. google shares up over 2% and chevron right now, excuse me, is falling by 1%. all choke

thank you, roberta. out the door unfortunately we have some major problems going on in castro valley right now. we have learned there's about 30 cars stuck in some of the backup behind the traffic alert. it's a confirmed fatal accident now. at one point that car was fully engulfed. multiple lanes possibly even all lanes of eastbound 580 are blocked right now at 164th. they are trying to get some of the cars stuck in the backup there while they do the investigation, they are trying to detour the cars off at that exit, that 164th exit. and they may be shutting the off-ramps down after that. so if you want to use an alternate, 880 is probably a good one for a while while the investigation continues. it's moving fine now between oakland and san leandro. and if you need to head to castro valley just use 238 to cut over and bypass the entire accident scene. so yeah, that's your best way to go for now. all clear 15 minutes between 238 and the macarthur maze. golden gate bridge, we just missed the zipper crews.

here's elizabeth. >>> thank you roberta.e first pictures from the scene of the closure now going on more than four hours. just waking up with us, southbound 280 that extension is closed near 10 #. there's a lot of police activity and you can see all the flashing lights. the cones out. so yeah, 101 is going to be the best bet until they're age to reopen -- able to reopen lanes. they're detouring cars right now at cesar chavez and asking the drivers to continue down on southbound 101. fortunately at this time we're not seeing much of a delay just to follow the detours. so that will be the biggest delay is kind of just sort of getting around the mess. and there was a tweet posted just a few minutes ago from ryan takeo, he's our kpix 5 reporter who is there at the scene. so we'll be getting live updates from him in just a minute. in the meantime that's not the only traffic alert right now. another one in napa county. this one involving an overturned truck. highway 29 near the lake county napa county line. a number of emergency c

turns out the truck has hit a steel electrical junction box installed on roberta's property.driver and his passengers are not hurt, but the accident dislodges high-voltage cables, which feed electricity to the entire neighborhood. the cables attached to the junction box are pulled out of the ground when the suv hits the box. now power is out for more than three dozen homes. switching her camera to video, roberta is ready to record anything else that might happen on her land. within the hour, new hampshire electric co-op workers are on site to assess the damage. but before they can make any repairs, a flatbed tow truck must first remove the suv. the conditions are potentially deadly. >> you got wet ground, snow, and electricity. not a good recipe. it's a recipe for disaster. so the electrical worker, he was getting down in front to make sure that the power was off, so they could restore the power to the other houses. >> as the power worker looks down at the cables, the tow winch fails, so he never sees the suv rolling towards him. >> oh, look out! oh, my god! >> robert's unabl
