thank you, roberta. so out the door, it's the never ending series of accidents as well along the nimitz freeway. this is the second morning now we have had serious problems early in the morning commute between san leandro and oakland so this morning's issue is really close to the oakland coliseum right there by that 66 exit. it is a fatal accident and now we're hearing that it was involving a pedestrian. the chp unfortunately has shut down all lanes of the nimitz freeway. that's right. all lanes northbound 880 at 66 remain closed. they are detouring cars off of the freeway. big rigs are allowed to use 580 so you can expect to see some extra traffic on 580 through oakland. in the meantime right now the delays are beyond the oakland coliseum and growing. they are telling us they hope to re-open at least some of these lanes possibly all of them by 6:00. so if you can wait this out or take bart that's probably your best bet. in the meantime. let's check other roads around the bay area. here's a live look at

roberta will have more on that coming up. but mass transit is always a good choice on a "spare the air" day. the rest of mass transit is on time. we haven't had any troubles or delays for muni, caltrain, ferries, ace train one or three. everything is on time. southbound 880, we have reports of an accident right at industrial. also reports of one not too far from there southbound 880 at 92. this one is involving a big rig. and the big rig may have gone off the side of the road so that will cause some slowing as you work your way southbound side of 880 coming away from 238 down into union city. seems like once you get past that, you aren't having any troubles south of there into fremont. so two accidents, as you work your way on the nimitz freeway. elsewhere, we go to the altamont pass. westbound 580. 205 to the altamont pass is our hot spot here. 12 minutes once you get past that area though it's clear at the dublin interchange and northbound 101 starting to fill in, in san jose especially right around 280/680 connector. here'

turns out the truck has hit a steel electrical junction box installed on roberta's property. the driver and his passengers are not hurt, but the accident dislodges high-voltage cables, which feed electricity to the entire neighborhood. the cables attached to the junction box are pulled out of the ground when the suv hits the box. now power is out for more than three dozen homes. switching her camera to video, roberta is ready to record anything else that might happen on her land. within the hour, new hampshire electric co-op workers are on site to assess the dang. but before they can make any repairs, a flatbed tow truck must first remove the suv. the conditions are potentially deadly. >> you got wet ground, snow, and electricity. not a good recipe. it's a recipe for disaster. so the electrical worker, he was getting down in front to make sure that the power was off, so that they could restore the power to the other houses. >> as the power worker looks down at the cables, the tow winch fails, so he never sees the suv rolling towards him. >> oh, look out! oh, my god! >> robert

that is roberta keller. i've gotten to know roberta over the years representing her in chautauqua county. she is doing amazing work. i toured her facility many times. she takes holiesic approach. because when you deal with poverty it is not one size fits all solution. when you have policies not only cause you to be penalized when you work, but we also have a life-changing impact. you lose your day care. you lose your heating assistance. you lose your transportation assistance. our policies need to be coordinated. our policies have to look at the entire approach. and that's what we're proposing in the rsc proposal as well as the better way. rewarding work. standing with people as they go through life. recognizing we can be there during that time to offer some type of assistance, be it cash assistance for the crisis situation, but only takes care of an individual for a moment. we need to make sure we're standing with them to get the skillset, the education, that is going to empower them for a lifetime. that is
