let's get to roberta gonzales who is tracking the rain. roberta. >> reporter: we do have now at this particular time some heavy rain that's moved into the bay area off the coast. we are watching it carefully. according to our live hi-def doppler radar, the precipitation is moving from the west across the peninsula lifting up north. i'm going to zoom in on some of the hard hit areas. we are going towards 580/680 corridor in the dublin- pleasanton area. that's always a mess when it rains. but look at the yellow on the tv screen. that's pretty moderate rainfall from mill valley through tiburon into muir beach and berkeley, as well. peninsula getting sparked around the bay u district into sfo into san francisco. heavy rain in the mission. folsom street also has some heavy rain and chinatown and the richmond district moderate rain, as well. this is the prefront associated with a bigger storm that's lurking offshore. that particular storm will cause some urban and small stream flooding around the bay area here. the evening commute is sure to be a

let's get to roberta gonzales. >> good afternoon, everybody. this has been totally amazing. we were forecasting 1 foot of rain here in the bay area and we have seen just about that. we have seen that since friday. 11 miles outside of helzberg, 9 inches of rain. and 10 with over 6.25 and oakland, san jose and san francisco, healthy totals as well. this is our live high- definition doppler radar. did you see that pink son? that's snow falling on mount hamilton. we have seamen on again off and again -- off-again all day. heavy rain around finger wrote and toward the north the -- thinker -- vancar road. the pressure sagging down to the south. the rain will taper off as the afternoon progresses but on the other side of the coin, gusting winds. san ramon, 16 miles per hour. 14 miles per hour in san rafael and also antioch. the winds are going to increase. the rain will decrease but we still have a series of storms rolling this way and frank, i'm going to track all the in a couple minutes. >> okay, thank you.>>> jackie ward is following the high surf. >> the first, the massive clea

roberta gonzales tracking the rain. >> reporter: began, everybody from our kpix 5 weather center. -- good afternoon, everybody, from our kpix 5 weather center. we have been monitoring this frontal boundary stalled across the north bay causing a lot of rainfall in a short amount of time. in fact, we have already seen 3 1/2 inches of venado. santa rosa and mill valley both over 1.5" of rain. this amount of rain on already saturated soil lead to flooding in the bay area. petaluma and napa with lesser amounts. now it's raining in san francisco. as you can see, those raindrops on our camera lens. it's live, it's our hi-def doppler radar. when you see the shades of yellow, that's a more moderate rainfall. and then when you see the shades of orange that's heavy rainfall east of rohnert park and petaluma. golden gate bridge wet. we see rain showers streaming onshore from the coast across half moon bay, 280 into san mateo and also south san francisco where we have delays two hours 17 minutes on some arriving flights at sfo. flash flood watch in effect for all that highlighted yellow area whic

here's roberta gonzales. >> good afternoon, everybody. what a stellar day around the bay area.ertainly warmer than what it was 24 hours ago. but in a couple of hours the winds are going to begin to increase out of the northwest 10 to 20. that's going to add a little chill to the air but right now, i want us to start off with this. it's our satellite and radar and what it does suggest is sure! we do have some sagging and storms well to the north of the bay area. it continues to skim across the northwestern section of the state of california and as it does so it's providing light precipitation all the way into the eureka area but then it disintegrates so what that's doing for us is increasing that wind. that's why it will become blustery toward the evening commute. this is the ridge of high pressure that dominates the entire state of california weather forecast. and this is our wind particle map which gives you a good indication where that storm is. storms to the north, we have the dry weather to the south. we'll see some partly cloudy conditions. but that will be on easter sunda
