our first speaker will be professor mildred robinson. for 30 years, she has been a professor at the university of virginia school of law. she is an expert in taxation and finance, particularly with a focus on school inequalities. she has an expertise in brown on two fronts. one, of course, is writing law review articles. secondly, she published a book in 2009 by vanderbilt university. the law touched our hearts. she had an opportunity to speak to at least 40 people who were in elementary and secondary schools at the time of brown. so she's going to bring a perspective to this conversation across time and law. second, leslie heiner, vice president for programs at the milton freeman family foundation. the freeman foundation is committed to ideas of educational choice. leslie travels the country, speaking to lawmakers about the important of choice and what it means for families and schools. leslie is able to do this with a great level of fluidity because she, in fact, had a role in shaping education in the state of indiana. she is the first
