a worker from rockland county has contracted the disease. sky sox is over the plant where the person worked. this is breaking tonight. we have no word if this patient in rockland county had any contact in the south bronx. that is where more than 100 cases of legionnaires disease has been found. >> sky fox flew over the corporation tonight. there is no evidence that the unidentified worker contracted to bear. a company spokesperson says that the cooling towers on the roof were treated to kill any potential bacteria and we did confirm activity at about 8:00 p.m. tonight on the real. in the meantime the cdc is there to help with the outbreak and arthur has more. reporter: that's right, at least 500 legionnaires' cases have been reported. the city. optimism is the word that public officials have been using because they are seeing the new cases. equation today. >> we have a total of 101 cases. reporter: public-health officials from the city and state and federal government got together with different messages to send to the public. the message is

chelsea was last seen in the rockland county victimmage of south nyack a week ago and the family has not heard from her since. eyewitness news reporter shirleen allicot in south nyack with the latest on this investigation. shirleen nors. >> this is not a missing person case but police say they are treating this as a runaway situation. >> reporter: they have been looking for 17-year-old chelsea o'donnell since it was first reported this past sunday august 16th. but she actually went missing a week ago on august 11th. chelsea was with her 6-month- old therapy dog named bear when she left the family's south nyack home and according to her mother rosie o'donnell who has been very active on twitter, pleading for her daughter's return, she stopped taking her medication and as we've learned. she does have a history of mental illness. we spoke with sergeant daniel wilson and here's what he had to say. >> at this point we don't think she is in any danger, we are following up on certain leads we have which at this point are still developing and i don't have anything solid or concrete to pass a

by 8:00, it's over the city, very heavily towards parts of rockland county and westchester county. and then it spreads across to long island and parts of connecticut in the afternoon. back to the west, it sort of breaks up into spotty downpours here and there. still the potential for some isolated flooding even until 7:00 or 8:00. but most areas will dry out by then. and then we'll see some clearing skies in spots going into wednesday morning. speaking of high -- talking about high temperatures, temperatures were pretty nice today, mainly in the upper 70s to the mid 80s across the area. so not too hot tomorrow. it's going to be muggier, even though the temperatures will be lower. right now, readings in the mid spots. but it will stay that way most of the evening. it's not really going to cool down much. we have a layer of clouds over us so that will keep the temperatures pretty close to where they are for the rest of the night. so a very warm, muggy night. muggy day tomorrow. and a stormy one, especially early in the day. but things clearing out wednesday into the end of the week.

so if you're near rockland, jeffersonville, bethel, liberty, you're in the path of this heavy rain, also probably gusty winds and small hail. that's all with the front. it will die out as we go through the latter part of the evening, but holding together now may bring you a couple inches of rain. here's a look at how we track through the rest of tonight. still seeing patches of heavy rain over this region, through ulster county and then dies out for a while and then a few spot showers develop in the morning, mainly at the jersey shore and a few over parts of connecticut. but then the front stalls, right over the city into connecticut, and so we'll see a few more showers and storms from noon until about 3:00 or 4:00 in the afternoon. and we could see some strong storms with that too, a slight chance there could be severe weather east of the city tomorrow afternoon. after that, the front finally clears the coast, and the skies clear out and the temperatures will be very delightful. as the temperatures drop into the 50s. today -- at night. today we were in the 80s across the region. no 90s

eyewitness news reporter jim dolan is in rockland county with the very latest. jim. >> reporter: well, liz, this was a violent collision, head- on collision, two trucks traveling in opposite directions this morning, one driver lost control, veered into the other lane. the driver of the car who lost -- of the truck that lost control, he died in the collision. his passenger died in the collision. this all left behind, a traffic mess that won't be cleared up for hours: the southbound lanes were littered with what was left of two trucks that collided head on this morning along with other cars involved in the crash, it was sudden and violent and happened when a truck traveling northbound on lost control. >> one of the box trucks that was involved in the collision attempted to pass another vehicle, one of the other box trucks and when he attempted to merge back into traffic from the right lane back into the middle lane, he lost control of the vehicle and ended up -- he ended up going across the guide rail and struck a tractor- southbound on interstate 7. >> reporter:
