jummy olabanji joins us from rockville with the latest. >> good morning. you just broke down the latest power outages numbers. this is a neighborhood in rockville without power but it was restored last night. many people say they were becoming overly frustrated with pepco. thousands of people are still in the dark this morning who will be waking up across montgomery county. they have been waiting to see power trucks coming down the street, but they have not seen them yet and they're getting very frustrated. we spoke with several residents yesterday in rockville and they don't understand why they don't have power, especially because their power lines are an underground. >> we are in a pretty densely populated area. >> i thought it would be back on earlier. now it's really hot. >> pepco says the reason some of those residents have not had power restored even though their power lines are underground is because there are still transformer issues they are trying to work out. once again, they hope to have the majority of their customers in montgomery county with

this was at the beltway between rockville pike and old georgetown road. shut down the interstate so power crews could continue work. this led to delays this evening. they lasted until after 8:00 p.m. when the highway reopened. about 1000 seniors in arlington will soon have their lights and air conditioning back thanks to a temporary generate. giant donated the generator to the lockwood house. it's going to remain in place until the power is restored. >> the storm damage and a clean up damage will have an impact on fireworks celebrations. fireworks displays have been canceled in kensington, germantown rockville and gaithersburg. officials want to concentrate on getting the power back on. but it is important to know the national mall fireworks celebration and fire were celebrations in virginia will go on as scheduled. mahy ofetro will provide additional trains for the expected influx of passengers. they will operate at near rush- hour levels between 6:00 p.m. and midnight tomorrow. they urged passengers to avoid smithsonian and federal triangle stations. me
