[applause.] >> thank you very much, mayor breed, we celebrate the opening of chase center. i invite you to welcome to the stage the san francisco chamber of commerce board chair and chief revenue officer, john gingrich. ♪ get ready . >> thank you all for being here today. nice to see a lot of friendly faces in the crowd. i serve as board chair for the san francisco chamber of commerce. i do want to say thank you to all of the sponsors and especially my former colleagues. thank you for being the presenting sponsor today. the san francisco chamber is excited to watch the business community grow throughout mission bay and here with the retail, restaurants, public plaza and office space. also the chase center, this amazing venue which is going to create thousands of jobs and generate hundreds of millions of

rodney fong. >> hello everybody. you so much for coming to the san francisco chamber of commerce breakfast here at chase center, home of golden state warriors. look at this arena. i am in awe coming down here. for those who don't know me i am the president and c.e.o. of the san francisco chamber of commerce, a proud fourth generation san franciscan. i have zoned a business and sat on the port and planning commission in san francisco. i want to as you can tell i am passionate about san francisco. i want to tell you about a story that happened as we watched chase center rise up. six and a half years ago which my son andrew reminded me of. i got a phone call from may or ed lee who invited me to breakfast. they pitched the area about building the arena in the hometown. this being an arena for san francisco to enjoy, to use, to be a place of gathering. i am sured lee would be proud if they were here. we witnessed mission bay come up. the sports and entertainment complex will be a focal point with retail, housing, public t

up next is rodney fong. >> thank you, steve. congratulations. i feel like it's a new day.t's a fresh breath of air. it literally is a chamber of commerce day here in san francisco. i want to thank mayor breed, supervisor brown for being champions of this legislation. all of the points you bring up about the vitality of san francisco, how important it is for our streets to be filled with people and to get involved with businesses. at the chamber of commerce we've put an emphasis on small businesses. i feel growing up in a small business and running our wax museum down at fishermen's wharf, creativity is the secret sauce. if we can give entrepreneurs the ability to be cultivators of things, we're going to do well. i'm happy to be here. i hope we have many, many more opportunities like this. congratulations to the planning department and clearing some of the red tape. hopefully we can get more businesses open here this san francisco. thank you very much for coming, and congratulations to you.
