let's welcome in rodney fong, the president and ceo of the san francisco chamber of commerce. ey, always good to see you. nice to see you, clayton. well, so the chamber calls itself the only organization that champions all businesses across all industries in the city. so tell me what you're hearing from those business owners right now and what are you telling them? well, our 1300 member companies at the chamber of commerce, most of them are doing very, very well from larger companies all the way to small companies in the neighborhoods. and anyone who's spent any time recently in san francisco knows that our neighborhoods are doing incredibly well. restaurants are packed, bars are packed, music venues are packed. this is a real sign that san francisco's arts and culture, which we hold very highly, are in well intact . and it's very different than the narrative that we're seeing in the news nationally. and so we want to be really clear that we're sending a message that san francisco is not a failed city. it's doing incredibly well. there are, of course, challenges that many other

rodney fong acknowledged the challenges the city faces, but said other large cities are going throughes. travel over the 4th of july weekend is expected to break records, projects 51 million americans will travel about 4 million of those planned to fly. but could face some challenges. severe staffing shortage if air traffic controllers and the rollout of 5g cell service near airports. nation wide could cause delays and cancellations. major airlines say they're ready. and staffing has increased to handle added flights. and today, air canada is opening its brand new lounge at san francisco international airport. the company says it is designed to make travel even more comfortable for premium customers. it has a bar, a dining area, as well as outdoor space. the lounge will be at terminal two at sfo. well, the mayor of san jose says the a's plan to move to las vegas is creating a new opportunity to possibly bring big league baseball to his city. mayor matt mahan is asking major league baseball to get rid of the territory rights in the bay area that the san francisco giants currently hold.

rodney fong acknowledged the challenges the city faces, but said other large cities are going througha busy stretch of road for cyclists in san francisco is getting a safety upgrade. protected bikeways are being proposed for arguello boulevard between golden gate park and the presidio post transit island and other physical barriers are possibly going to be installed to help protect the cyclists from moving vehicles. the proposals come more than two months after a cyclist was hit and killed by a car on arguello boulevard in the presidio. our time now for 38 california, expected to get $184 million to help the state transition to clean air busses. the money from the federal government would go to california transit agencies, including marin transit and san francisco's muni, ac transit, solano county transit and the city of santa rosa. it'll be used to buy and lease new cleaner busses as well as recharging, refueling and maintenance facilities. state regulators are set to vote this week on a decision that would let waymo start charging for rides in driverless cars in san francisco. the c
