abc seven news reporter gloria rodriguez joins us live in the city. gloria, we're getting a closer look at this process. >> yes, reggie and the majority of unhoused people who were offered shelter earlier this week have refused it. take a look at these numbers right here. data from the san francisco healthy streets operation center shows a total of 41 people were contacted on monday, and tuesday. all were offered shelter, but 34 of those people refused. that is 82%. abc seven news was at 19th and folsom yesterday. tens had returned less than 24 hours after city workers moved. people who are unhoused from the area. the city's healthy streets operation team says one reason people declined shelter is that in many cases, it's not the type of shelter they want, for example, a single room or a hotel room. the work has ramped up following a recent supreme court ruling and executive order from governor newsom, directing state agencies on how to remove homeless encampments. >> despite the supreme court ruling, the ninth circuit vacating the majority of the inj

abc seven news reporter gloria rodriguez joining us live. gloria, this is a huge development, but still a lot yet to be done. >> there is kumasi. the county says it still has to take formal steps to finalize that sale. and that includes licensure, state approvals. also, more negotiations on the final sale price. for now, the county and hca agreed on a $175 million price tag. yesterday, santa clara county made its major announcement that they reached a preliminary agreement to acquire regional medical center in east san jose. the county plans to restore trauma services along with stroke and heart attack services. it also plans to restore labor and delivery services that closed back in 2020. hca healthcare, the company that owns regional medical center, announced plans earlier this year to close the trauma center because of a decline in utilization. then the plans changed from a full closure to a downgrade in resources on august 12th. a coalition of patients and advocates fought to keep the community's only trauma center open through demonstra

abc seven news reporter gloria rodriguez is following this story.ing about their efforts to prevent these fires? >> well, reggie p-g-and-e's created a wildfire safety program task force last month. based on the data they're seeing in the field, to look at what else they could be doing and what else they might need to change. p-g-and-e's equipment has been blamed for sparking some of the state's deadliest wildfires in recent years. that includes the 2018 camp fire, where 85 people died in the town of paradise. over the past few years. p-g-and-e's has increased rates, saying it's to reduce wildfire risk and also make the electric system safer. but wildfires have not decreased this year. p-g-and-e's is reporting 62 cpuc reportable ignitions from their equipment and high fire threat districts. 29 since july 1st in 2023, there were 65 the whole year when dry fuels gather around power poles, fires can start. and that's one thing the new task force is looking into. >> right now, we've identified 50 000 poles within the highest fire risk areas to go out and

live in the studio gloria rodriguez, abc seven news. >> gloria. thank you. developing news in the east bay. police in oakland are investigating a deadly shooting outside of a dollar tree. we counted about two dozen shell casings in the parking lot on east 12th street at 25th avenue, about a mile from the fruitvale bart station. police say one person was shot and killed there just before four last night. they were at a tent where people could sign up for free cell phone service. police haven't shared any details about a suspect. >> we are following the story of the deadly wrong-way crash that killed two people in san jose monday. this dash cam video is from another driver on highway 85. shows the truck driven by a man from florida, shortly before it hit a tesla suv. that collision killed both people in the tesla. a 47 year old woman and a and a 14 year old boy. the chp says the truck was heading in the wrong direction for several minutes before the crash. the 39 year old truck driver remains in the hospital with major injuries. he has not been charged yet, bu
