hillary clinton holds the record for the most countries visited at 112. israel, the least visits from any secretary of state since rogersenry kissinger, 36 times for israel. is this significant? >> well, i mean, she was very energetic. i don't know if she gets frequent flyer miles for all of the miles she logged. >> sadly, no. that's probably the one perk she didn't get, right? >> right, but the fact is our relationship with israel hasn't been the best. s so i don't know if you can directly equate that. anne marie served in the administration. but under the obama administration, relations with israel have been very tough. they may have reached a bottom and mare they're on an uprise, but once again, i think this comes down to president obama's policy. remember, she's the secretary of state. she implements the president's agenda, and i think a lot of the problems out there, i think, were president obama's vision. i think i may be wrauk here, but i think secretary clinton would have done things a little different on some of these situations such as iran. in fact, i think she's s'more of the right on iran than president oba

another -- secretary clinton said she did not read all of the cables that we're talking about the security situation. not one senator or one member of congress asked her if she got a roger channel cable from ambassador stevens. that is a special channel in which an ambassador posted overseas can communicate directly with the secretary of state on particularly sensitive matters. we don't know because no one asked her. my point is that members of congress were so busy posturing they had an opportunity to really ask her difficult questions and get straight answers and they didn't do that. >> where do you think this leaves secretary clinton in terms of her legacy? does it have an impact on any career she may have in 2016 in terms of running for president? did it do damage today to her? >> i think that the quote of hers that you just played "what difference does it make at this point?" is ready for a campaign commercial. i think that will be used against her and certainly it comes across as more glib than i think if she could go back and revise and extend those remarks she would have them as fran just alluded to. >> is it fair, fran, to attack secretary clinton, the administ

i remember having a conversation with roger altman who is a friend of this program and somebody that served in the clinton administration about after the election how the president was going to fill out his cabinet. and he said if you look at the pattern that this president has followed, it has tended to pick people close to him who he feels very comfortable with. the criticism of president obama from some is that he's insular and that he has a very close circle. the positive of that is that it's a pretty cohesive group and he deals with people that he's comfortable with. and jack lew is clearly one of those people. >> you know, john, i know when you read the "new york times" editorialal page you know what you're getting when you read "the wall street journal's" editorialal pages you know what you're getting. but the point is, anyone that is still holding out some hope for a clinton-type packet more to the center is just becoming clear, more and more clear that that is not what we're going to get. the president has ideas about where he wants to take the country and there's no reason, once you're re-electe
